Delta Ground Anchors

The UKCampsite.co.uk was asked to review a new kind of peg, suitable for awnings and tents, which we were told would become essential items in our kit. We weren't disappointed, below are the results of our testing!

If you've had enough of cheap, ineffective and disposable pegs, perhaps it's time you put your trust in something else. DELTA ground anchors are a totally innovative and effective method of securing your tent or marquee. The patented DELTA design completely overcomes the problems associated with conventional methods of securing guy ropes. DELTA Ground Anchors are totally dependable and different to any other anchoring system on the market today.

Why Delta Ground Anchors were Produced

**Exclusive Discount on Delta Pegs - see below

Traditional pegs consisted of wooden stakes. Today, in the name of convenience and lightness, metal pins, thin angled steel sections and plastic are all used. Wooden pegs tend to split readily. The alternatives tend to be so insubstantial that they barely penetrate the soil without bending or breaking. All conventional pegs fail to hold under the load of constant guy tension plus wind force for three main reasons:
  • With the point of attachment at the top of the peg the guy line produces maximum leverage; this causes the peg to move in the direction of tension.
  • Normal pegs have a small surface area to resist guy tension.
  • Modern pegs have little, or no, rigidity making their practical use very limited and giving a short life.

Anyone erecting a tent, awning or marquee has experienced problems with ineffective, cheap or disposable pegs, either as supplied or readily available on the after-sales market!

Deltapegs from DELTA GROUND ANCHORS Ltd. are an innovative and effective method of securing your tent, awning, gazebo or wind-breaker etc. The position of the guy attachment point directs tensional forces in the guyline deeper into the ground, giving a much more secure hold. The unique shape ensures that the load is spread evenly, minimizing leverage and therefore preventing the peg from cutting through the soil. Deltapegs have a larger surface area than conventional pegs which creates a greater resistance to guy tension. The base member is extremely rigid enabling easy insertion and removal. (Most campers will appreciate the importance of rigidity after throwing away numerous bent wire pegs). Manufactured from super-tough nylon composite, developed by Exeter University and tested to 72Kg, award winning Deltapegs are possibly the strongest and most effective plastic pegs available in the world and offer genuine value for money.

At Delta Ground Anchors Ltd. we can make these claims because we have absolute confidence in our products' quality and performance. If you've had enough of cheap, ineffective and disposable pegs, Deltapegs are the affordable solution.

Deltapegs are rigid and ensure easy insertion. Deltapegs are manufactured in the U.K. using high quality nylon composite. Deltapegs are intended for use with the main supporting guys of your tent or awning. Deltapegs lay totally level with the ground when in use, offering maximum safety. Delta offers you a choice of quantity.

What Makes Delta Ground Anchors Different

  • The most important and unique feature is the position of the guy attachment point which ensures that the load is evenly distributed to the ground and eliminates any leverage.

  • DELTA holds until you are ready to go!
  • The base member presents a large surface area to resist the forces acting upon it.

  • DELTA holds fast where others cannot.
  • Original Delta Ground Anchors are formed from stainless steel channel section. Stainless steel is corrosion resistant and the strong channel section used is very rigid.

  • DELTA has a long service life, providing genuine value for money.
  • A rigid anchor makes insertion and recovery easy and resists wind and ground forces.

  • DELTA Ground Anchors make conventional designs redundant.
  • The Ground Anchors lie totally flush with the soil.

  • DELTA provides maximum safety in the field.

The DELTA Ground anchors range include lightweight composites and medium/heavyweight stainless steel versions for family tents, awnings, marquees and other applications eg 'Off roading'. All are compact and incorporate the DELTA holding power and basic strength.

DELTA Ground Anchors’ holding ability, strength, ease of use and corrosion resistance simply makes them the ideal choice.

The Results

The Delta Ground Anchors have been tested over a period of a few months in a variety of weather conditions, from sopping wet ground, to hard standing pitches, to dry normal ground and proved to be highly effective in the outcome when tested against conventional pegs. The Ground Anchors are uniquely designed to ensure that the tension in the guy lines is approximately at right angles to the peg, spreading the load and reducing the pegs movement.

The Delta Ground Anchors are easily removed from the ground by sliding the guy rope along the peg and simply pull out of the ground. Overall the Delta Ground Anchors proved successful when holding the guy lines in place in a variety of climates and ground conditions, there is less need to continually re-positions pegs and tension the guy lines. My one concern would be that the Delta Ground Anchors can withstand such high levels of resistance against the elements that although the anchors may well stay in the ground, how long is it before your tent rips under the pressure!!

In conclusion the Delta Ground Anchors are a unique and superb way to secure your tent or awning and reduce the continual trips to the accessory shop to buy new pegs each time you bend or break a conventional peg. These are a piece of equipment that should be in every campers and caravanners kit bag.
