| Gelert have just launched a brand new range,
the Gelert Sleeping Pods, which they describe as the next generation in
sleeping bags. Designed with comfort in mind the sleeping pods offer
unrestricted body movement. The unique shape means you can curl up & turn
inside the bag & sleep in any position you find comfortable. Now I'm a fairly big bloke, so when Funky Leisure offered us one to test, I jumped at the chance to see what they are like. The one we tested was the standard Sleeping Pod in Bluejay colour. |

What we thought
My first impression was the packsize was quite large. This is obviously
because it's a lot larger than a standard sleeping bag, but is worth bearing
in mind if space is an issue. The Pod comes with a compression sac for
repacking, which is sewn to the bottom, by your feet. Handy, if like me, you
loose this sort of thing! When unrolled it's immediately obvious that this
is not a normal sleeping bag. It's very wide, and a large oval shape.I
had a great night's sleep, the extra space really is brilliant, and lets you
move around unrestricted, and curl up, something you can rarely do in a
standard sleeping bag. I tested the standard Sleeping Pod, but they also do
an XL version, which is 10 cm wider still, but perhaps more importantly 20
cm longer. I'd recommend the XL version if you are around 6 foot tall or
over, you won't need the extra width, but the length will ensure you are
able to completely enclose yourself in it!
