All the Club Sites are already open this year with the addition of the new Club Site at Alton,
The Star which opened its doors on March 1, bringing campers beautiful
countryside views as well as the thrills and spills of the nearby Alton
Towers theme park.
This year the Club is bringing more sites than ever to the network, as it is
now running 20
Forest Holidays Caravan & Camping Sites bringing an additional 5,500
pitches to the network. The Forest Holidays Sites are all nestled in
Forestry Commission areas of natural beauty – with sites in Scotland, Wales,
Yorkshire, Norfolk, Forest of Dean, Wiltshire and the New Forest.
This means that the Club is offering a total of 17,500 pitches per night –
and that’s not counting the Certificated Sites network!
Director General Robert Louden said: “Camping means different things to
different people. But whether you consider it an adventure, hobby or
lifestyle, camping is the key to happiness and we believe it makes people
richer in mind, body and soul.
“The continued expansion and development of our site network has enabled us
to continue to offer campers innovative new ways to explore the great
outdoors in locations that are closer to home.”
The Camping and Caravanning Club is 110-years-old and is the largest and
oldest Club in the world for all forms of camping. It has
109 award-winning sites throughout the UK and, through a partnership
with the Forestry Commission, now runs and manages a further
20 Forest Holidays Caravan & Camping Touring Sites. The Club has over
1,400 Certificated Sites and over 1,000 listed sites. It also operates
Carefree European and Worldwide Holidays, with 183 Sites in 19 European
Countries.
