Building on the success of its
Mythos range, Robens® has added three more two-berth models
to its Xtra Lite Collection of ultra lightweight tents – all designed for
outdoor enthusiasts who want to travel light and fast, and benefit from the ease
and speed of pitching a safe shelter.
Robens’
latest tents comprise the
Typhon,
Heros and
Mercury. The company has also added
a lightweight Tarp to provide a quick-to-pitch versatile shelter that is ideal
for bivouacking or to provide protection from the sun and rain during the day. Robens has applied its traditional
attention to detail to achieve lighter weight without compromising performance.
Market-leading features include the use of environmentally-friendly DAC
Featherlite NSL poles, connected swiftly and positively to the outer by Twist
Clip
hooks
(all models except Mercury), DAC Swivel Hubs and Ball Caps (Heros and Mythos).
Weather-beating stability is aided by Robens’ latest Storm Guard System (all
models except Mercury), while guyline adjustment is quickly actioned through the
use of Clamcleat runners. Guyline Retainers (all models except Mercury) ensure
that the lines are tangle free and ready to use at a moment’s notice.
Typhon
(left) delivers stability, durability and comfort for two in a lightweight
quality package. Quickly pitched flysheet first or as one, the hooped main pole
with reliable Twist Clip hooks and shorter twin end poles, allows plenty of room
inside even in bad weather. The durable Ripstop flysheet fabric copes easily
with harsh treatment in demanding conditions with the tapered shape shedding the
worst that wind and rain can throw at it. Clamcleat runners on the guylines
ensure easy fast adjustment of the neat Storm Guard System that provides
stability whatever the weather.
The Heros’
flexible poles and tapered ridge offer great living space, stability and easy
pitching; the pole is almost vertical at the rear to maintain height. Sleeping
two in comfort with easy access via the wide door, Heros features Twist Clip
hooks and the Storm Guard System with Clamcleat runners. Positioning of the
inner tent connectors to the flysheet for maximum interior space and the tilted
front pole for extra stability typify the Robens’ approach to detail. The inner
door has mesh at the top for ventilation and the whole door zips down from the
top and side to fold away neatly in a pocket. Lightweight fabrics and components
deliver protection, durability and reliability.
The Mercury
(right) is a tipi-style performance tent that has the option of using walking
poles as supports for the main tent and the sheltered porch extension with side
panels. With a central anodised pole (supplied; a walking pole can be used to
trim weight further), four short attached corner poles to increase useable
space, and reflective guylines with Clamcleat runners, pitching and adjustment
is fast and easy. The zipped door can be raised to create a porch - ideal for
cooking sheltered from the rain. The inner attaches to the fly at the guyline
points to maximise internal space and the top of the inner door is insect mesh
to aid ventilation through the apex vents. It can be pitched flysheet first or
as one and the flysheet can be used as a group shelter.
The Tarp’s: HydroTex XTL fabric offers versatile light shelter that can be used with Robens
telescopic poles, walking poles or in a wide variety of ways limited only by
imagination – as a front or side tent extension or on its own as an ultralight
shelter. Light durable guylines are attached to strong webbing loop hangers
along the straight sides, reinforced to take punishment in the most trying
conditions.
