SoulPad 4000 Hybrid G Bell Tent

SoulPad are a UK company who make and sell canvas and cotton bell tents, true luxurious glamping, that will make you the envy of fellow campers. Their passion for quality, together with modern materials and classic designs, will enable you to be comfortable in the wild, in a field, in the garden, on a campsite or wherever your adventures take you.

They do a range of styles and sizes, to suit all budgets, ranging from 3m to 5m, with options of zipped in, sewn in, and separate groundsheets. They also do a range of stoves, and glamping accessories.

Here we've taken a look at the SoulPad 4000-hybrid-G - a 4 metre cotton canvas flysheet bell tent with a zipped in groundsheet (ZIG). The tent is 4m in diameter, has a 1.4m entrance and provide a standing height of 2.5m at centre. It weighs 21.9kg and is suitable to be erected by one person.

The zip is protected and concealed by a canvas storm flap that runs its length to ensure zero penetration of water.

The groundsheet supplied with the tent is luxurious and extra thick (540g/m2), plus it is is 100% waterproof. This groundsheet is 'bath tub' style, so if you find yourself at a festival camping in a field-turned-lake, you know it's not going to let the water in.

If you're lucky enough to be at a sunny festival and in need of some cool, breezy shade, simply unzip the groundsheet and roll the walls up. Perfect if you need to catch some Zzz's on a hot day.

There are four zipped windows on this SoulPad and three vents at the top of the bell, all with mosquito mesh fitted.

The "G" in the name means this SoulPad has a vent for a flue pre-fitted. This is for use with the Blaze-flue and Blaze stove (available separately from Soulpad). The tent can be sealed closed when the Blaze stove and flue kit are not required.

To give an idea of the internal space available in this SoulPad (when the Soulpad Blaze stove is not in use): it can easily accomodate 2 standard sized double air-mattresses (or 4 singles), and still allow plenty of space for the entrance and equipment/luggage.

The 4000-hybrid-G will comfortably accomodate up to four users when not using the Blaze stove, and 2 users when using the Blaze stove.

Review: What did we think?

The Soulpad 4000-hybrid-G turned up well packaged and very quickly from the time of ordering.

On opening the box I was presented with a large bag containing the tent, poles and pegs. The tent comes supplied with two types of pegs and they are very chunky, not the flimsy pointless pegs you get with some tents.

The poles themselves are well made and very solid and look like they will handle a good deal of typical British weather.

Getting the tent up is an easy enough job for one person, but having two will speed things up. Lay out the groundsheet, with the canvas attached and using the small pegs we pegged this out making it taught. This is followed by loosely pegging the peg loops which are easily located and there are many of them.

Next is to put the three piece pole together and inserting this in to the middle of the tent whilst raising the canvas with the other end. The canvas is not too heavy and again should be easy for anyone to do on their own. The next part is to put the A frame up to make the opening which sits into the feet sewn in to the canvas and pop trough the top to make the shape.

Now it is a case of guyying out the tent and ensuring all guys are nice and tight and the tent takes it shape.

The sides roll up easily and quickly for any airflow that you wish. There is also internal hanging points for an inner tent if required.

The tent comes with a pre-made exit point for use with the SoulPad Blaze Flue, however we have not ordered that, so cannot comment on how easy it is to set this up.

A great tent and one I would be happy to recommend.

Where can I get them from?

This tent has an RRP of 510.00, and tou can find out more and purchase the SoulPad 4000-hybrid-G direct from the Soulpad Website. (prices correct at time of publication and are subject to change without notice)
