Terrible. What is it with some caravanners having to completely enclose their pitch with any kind of fencing they can? I kind of get it if you have a dog but the majority I've seen don't.

Lol. I don't think its because they're antisocial, it's just to keep the wind from blowing your stuff away. the UK is the windiest place in Europe... And the most sodden no doubt 😐

Putting up a wind break during strong wind or after the event would be pointless It's like not pegging down your tent properly just because the weather is ok when you pitch

My husband likes one to mark his pitch boundries with a windbreak, there are some sites I can see the need for this but not all. I can also see the use for them when dining or cooking outdoors as I don't like the thought of being watched by passers by (I won't eat in the window of a restaurant either).

I like the look of them, would love one ( or two)! I like to set out my boundaries, not anti social in anyway, just gives you that extra privacy.

Nice one!           I see they've already got a rather attractive dry(?) stone wall one.

We tried one of these new type but having to guy them and peg them was a pain in the butt. We are now back to our old ones with the wooden poles that I hammer into the ground. We carry 2 of these but only needed them once at Arisaig where the wind off the sea was annoying without the windbreaks.

We put one around the Cadac to keep the wind and rain of the wife when she makes my breakfast. The difficult bit is holding the brolly and cooking with one hand in the rain We put one up for the dog and the site we use in Cornwall one at the front/side as we caught a few kids struggling past the wastemaster and the Aquaroll as we are up against a fence. Did not want the little darlings to bang their heads on the window as they went past. I would rather they did not stand out so much though and I would not have any that needed guy ropes as they seem to be on the ground more then upright.

If you cut out the white bits it will look like a real picket fence...might have to paint the blue bits white though.

I am not a fan of windbreaks generally but we did use a windbreak once - we were on a site in Norfolk, it was like being in a Tesco carpark. Someone whizzed along at about 30mph, less than a foot from our guy lines. It gave me nightmares (had a four year old with us). So, we went to the nearest shop which was a big caravan showroom type place and bought a windbreak and 'fenced in' the front of our tent. It has never been used since although I did say that I wished we had had it with us last year when one particular camper walked under our vario for the second time in two days. This has reminded me to put it in the trailer this year.

Like a couple of windbreaks to keep the wind off our camping cooker, and they are useful to make a windless area to sit in on a breezy day. But I think these 'designer' ones look cheap and flimsy. We'll stick to our beach ones which have served us well for years.

Re the windbreaks I'm afraid a lot of people have to use them to protect their pitches most especially in the UK to stop anybody just wandering through their area

The problem with all these mural type windbreaks is that they stick out like a sore thumb on a green field campsite. I saw a nice one recently (from a distance) printed like a dry stone wall, but there were no other dry stone walls on the campsite or for miles around so it just looked silly stuck up on it's own in the middle of a field. The better ones are those printed like hedging which at least can blend in somewhat. Of course, if you are into pop festivals and want to make a design statement or stick out among the crowd of tents then they are ideal. You may get some drug crazed kid diving into the seafront one though. When I first started camping regularly I always used a windbreak to give me a bit of privacy. I could sit outside my tent and dribble my boiled egg down my chin without anyone watching me. Now I just can't be bothered to erect one and don't care what people think of my table manners...however, I do like that Bio-hazard one...that'll keep the kids away!!
