Following Krazy's Arisaig thread, I thought I'd see if there's any interest in a wee trip to Knoydart ?
For anyone who doesn't know, Knoydart is one of the most remote areas in Britain, only accessible by a 16 mile walk (serious hiking) or by boat. It also boasts the most remote pub in Britain, the Old Forge.
I had a quick walk round the campsite last week.......its basically a field right on the beach, it has a compost toilet and a water supply straight from the hill, no hot water, no showers and a very small outside sink for dish washing.....There's a small building which I believe is a campers kitchen (was being used by a group of kayakers) There's a huge picnic bench right next to a brick bbq / fire area which also has a wooden bench surrounding it.
A fairly regular ferry (smallish boat) runs from Mallaig, £20 return and takes about 30 minutes.
..........for all the campers who have promised themselves a holiday in Arisaig...this could be a great oppertunity to do both as Arisaig is approximately 20 miutes from Mallaig...
Unfortunately its a bit late to organise anything for this year but worth thinking about for next year.
