I will be in residence at the Squirrel from 6th to about the 11th or 12th depending on weather and beer tokens!

If you fancy your chances at learning some winter camping skills get yourself up to the Coe!

I will be demonstrating how to start fire by throwing a match on some Glens vodka, washing underwear by beating the ice off with a pokey stick, waking up an ewok with same said pokey stick, knot tying whilst wearing big jessie woolly mitts, converting chicken to carbon over an open fire and how to keep warm in winter by choosing the correct year of maturity from a single malt.

I will also be demonstrating the correct use of a Colemans double petrol stove using the remnants of Armchairs facial hair as a tinder

Ah.......the great keeper of the Pokey Stick will be back in residence at the Coe in December, I've been looking forward to this post.....I've had a quick look at my shifts and at the moment those dates look a bit difficult but I'll work on it .

The winter skills masterclass sounds Ray Mears worthy.....with your experience you can let me know if Jura or Aberlour is more appropriate to keep away the chills......and I've already bought a fire retardant balaclava in anticipation of the Coleman stove demonstration

Like what you did there "TENTatively" hahaha! Not a bad choice but for me Lagavulin 16yr old or Bowmore 15yr "the darkest" would be my first choice!

Heehee! I've just come across this thread.

Seriously needing a camping trip somewhere but I'm tied up that Saturday. Maybe later in the month ... Sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to a Coleman fireworks display!

Time to get out the 4m bell and Frontier stove again now that winter's here.

I remember sticking my head into your tent to feel the effects of the frontier stove last year Armchair...And very cosy it was too...

Was thinking about that last time I was up in the coe with all them hardened winter campers...3 of whom were in a motorhome...The other two up on their campbeds with their all season Snugpac's round them..

Me..laying on a sim on the ground in my halo in -3 deg wishing I had a bell tent and a stove to go in it...

Mind you I would have had a bit of bother getting that lot on my backpack....

Jelboy.

I think we might just have found a new username for Jim..

Great Keeper of the Pokey Stick...I like it..Though we might have to shorten it to Pokey for convenience and ease of use in general conversation.....
