Machynlleth is only 19 miles from us, we know the area well. There has been an incredible response from not only the Mach community but surrounding towns / villages as well.
A colleague and I took the day off work today so that we could support the Ambulance Service (we're First Responders), I know of others who were out all last night and all day today in some appalling weather. I think a lot of people took time off work today, desperate to help in any way they can. It's times like this that communities really pull together.
Desperately hoping that something comes of the arrest, finding the vehicle (if it's the one) and that they find her before darkness sets in again.

I agree with Ratty - this means nothing at this early stage. Remember the Jo Yates case where the teacher from the flat next door was arrested (yes, he was creepy looking) but he was completely innocent yet his life was made hell.
The quicker they can find her the better. Amazing what the local community are doing.

Volunteers have now all been asked to stand down so that the Police helicopter can use it's thermal imaging equipment. I'm hoping this is positive news that they believe she is still alive.
Incidentally, there were over 200 people actively out searching but hundreds more people were out checking streets / car parks etc in nearby towns and villages (such as ours), not to mention the vast amount of forestry. Incredible really.

I don't think it's incredible or amazing what the local community are doing. It is heartwarming indeed but I think it is exactly what ANY community would do in these circumstances.
I still retain my belief in the fact that people are generally good and want to help in similar circumstances.
He probably doesn't even know where she is. If you read the post by 'chelsea girl' with reference to the Jo Yates murder regarding the wrong person being arrested, there could be a possibilty that this case is very much identical. Some of the children that were interviewed said that April had got into a box van type vehicle with a small front and yet they have arrested a man with a Land Rover Discovery. Judging by this alone the vehicle description doesn't match unless the driver was driving a different vehicle at the time of the abduction. A box type van with a small front sounds more like a Ford Transit type vehicle but all we can do at this moment in time is just let the Police do their job in obtaining the evidence first before the public jump to conclusions as they normally do. The one thing that we all should be hoping for at this present time is that they find April alive and well as soon as possible.

tango the chap arrested also owns a small van matching the description given in the first statement.
As much as people shouldn't point fingers the police themselves have said in the past over big cases theirs to much knowledge on the internet, not intended to help criminals get away with crime but at least hinder investigations.
i hope with all my heart this young girl is found safe and well.
