Some very kind people on today; let's consider -
Jimi Hendrix
Whitney Houston
Amy Winehouse
Heath Ledger
Marilyn Monroe
Michael Jackson
John Belushi
Paula Yates
River Phoenix
I'm sure some of these will have been heard of - let's hear if the same comments are made again - and Hey, what about just ordinary family members that have never been heard of - why not be as kind and generous in our comments....
Comments reflect on commentators.....

I was watching one of his films last year. He rarely played lead roles but it occurred to me then that I'd never seen him in a bad film.......he was even in the Big Lebowski!. He had a great presence, always played characters well, and was never a typical Hollywood type. I liked him. It's a real shame.

When all said and done drug users know what the risks are.
Drugs of one kind or another has taken many lives, not all famous Hollywood Stars but always someones son or daughter.

No sympathy for the drug taker but lots of sorrow for the family and friends that are left to deal with the loss.

He'd been off drugs for twenty years apparently. He recently split up with his wife and things had obviously got pretty bad. It seems as with other related deaths that his body had sensitised to the drug over time and couldnt then cope with a similar dose.

Humans do stupid things all the time. Its just sad.

None of the tributes are mentioning "The Master". I saw him in that film. He played a creepy sinister character extremely well. He won Best Actor awards (Oscar, Bafta and Golden Globe) for Capote, and in his acceptance speech for the Oscar acknowledged his mother who raised 4 children as a single parent. He can't have been all that bad then.

He was also very good in the film "Doubt" with Meryl Streep.  Great actor and as I've read from other actor's quotes since his death he was a very nice and humble man away from the cameras too.

I feel sorry for his family but,why when anybody dies of drugs we all feel sorry for that person, lets face it their junkies all of them, if they were "Unknowns"we would treat them as what they were junkies..

He was a great talent and I certainly don't condone drugs but why disregard someone's talent because they died from a drugs overdose. I have a lot of respect for Hendrix, George Best, et al.

It is still a tragedy that someone loses their life this way and its a shame that people have to feel cold hearted about it.

When anybody dies of drugs....
....if they have deliberately taken drugs with the intention of dying, that is called suicide. THEN (most) people feel sorry for them on the grounds of "what drove them to it" - it could be argued that people should be glad for them, because they succeeded in their desire.
However, should addicts - or "junkies" - be scorned or despised because they did something they almost certainly did not intend to do....
The families most definitely deserve sympathy in all cases, but surely anyone and everyone who dies unintentionally deserves some pity and/or sympathy?

I think every drug addict knows there is always a risk of dying.
I have watched drug addicts who have overdosed being brought back to life after being given narcan possibly twice and 15 mins later asking for a fix.

Not even sure if they care about their life or anyone elses life to be honest.

I don't think....
But I do know of an addict who managed to "get clean" for a fair while a couple of times, but eventually fell again each time. He never imagined any risk of dying, but finally he realised that he (in his case) would never completely give up, but he did realise how he was affecting his wife and children - so he jumped off the fourteenth floor of a nearby block of flats.
He was my brother-in-law.
I am sure he cared.....

Anything to say?

Do NOT offer me your sympathy!
