About 2 years ago, we bought a couple of Aldi Dehumidifiers, the passive type that use a bag of silica or whatever it is.

They worked real well, but eventually we ran out of the Bags that came in a pack of 3.

The Bag is around 350gm and contains the Crystals, the Bag itself is made from a porous material, that lets the absorbed moisture drop into the container unit.

The bags are manufactured by Sodepac int, although I am sure there are many other makers of the same item.

I can find loose Crystals, but not the ones contained in the absorbent bag, if anyone knows who does them please let me know.

Ebay and Amazon seems to draw a blank.

Thanks Bob, work takes me to Macclesfield sometime in June, just for one day.

Let me know if you find them, and the Costa will be on me, and a cake of course!

In the meantime, you would think that these type of Crystal Bags would be available from other retailers not just Aldi, who only have them in on the special buys?

Hi Francais

Ventured into the loft, the versions I purchased take 1kg bags each unit came with three refills in addition purchased additional refill pack containing 4 refills.

Found these on ebay calcium chloride Desiccant bags

We go away June 17 through June 28th hopefully that fits with your visit to Macc. Can always leave them at the side of the house if needs be.

Bob

Hi Bob, not sure about those on the eBay link, I think they are just loose crystals in a bag, could be wrong though.

My empty box that contained 3 of the Aldi refills says "Compact Dehumidifier Refills X3 pack".

The box is green and states suitable for any dehumidifier from 350g.

The 3 pack box weight is given as 1.05kg so I am guessing it is the same as you have found.

I can be in Macc wc 8th of June, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur or Friday name your day and I can meet you in the Costa if you like, thinking 11am or so.

I still can't believe the things are so hard to find, had a look in ASDA today but no joy, will try a Wilko's next week.

Thanks by the way, for your offer, it is very kind, will a Costa cover it?

Hi Francais

Your units a definitely smaller than the ones I purchased from Aldi, each bag weighs a 1kg, I have 2 of the holders and 10 bags

I have recently taken voluntary redundancy so I can fit in with you. At the moment working through swmbo list of jobs and fishing.

Costa will be fine

Bob

Hi Bob, a 1kg Bag of Crystals is going to be quite big, I am thinking a lot larger than say a bag of sugar.

I doubt my dehumidifier units would take such a large bag, size of units is H 19cm
    W 10.5cm
   L.   15cm

The compartment that takes the Crystal bag, is only big enough to take something the size of half a bag of sugar (500gm).

You can just imagine the scene in Costa as we examine your 1kg bags of Crystals, easily mistaken for Columbias finest by the other patrons lol.

Let me know the size of your dehumidifier units, if you are giving those up as well.

The Aldi units we have are just the perfect size for were we place them, anything bigger could be to big.

Yep, that size is fine, was thinking that they may be a lot taller with using the larger bags.

If it suits, Monday 8th June at 11am in the Costa, Coffee on me.

Will have a Baseball cap on the table, so you know it's me.

Will send you an email via contact on here, I am out on the bicycle at the moment, just stopped to type this edit, having a buttie and watching the sailing Dingys on Elton resovire, lovely sunny day, but not so warm.

Hi Francais

will keep eye out for the admin email. Date and time marked on my calendar

Spent the afternoon fishing - bit bright but was better than getting dragged out furniture shopping.
