Becca77, I think the UK is probably a lot safer than the media make us feel. I have often said that when I was young kids as young as 5 years walked to and from school, and played outside unaccompanied, and nobody thought anything of it. I can remember going trainspotting as an 8 year old with just a similar aged friend, to Wood Green in north London. A journey that involved a 1 mile walk, a bus ride, then a train ride! My parents didn't even have a home-phone, let alone a mobile, imagine that today! Personally I don't think there is much more danger about today than there was back then, but that is not how it is perceived.

The NRA announced today that they would consider legislation against "Bump-Stock" weapons. Fully auto weapons do require a license in the US of A.
Bump-Stock explanation here.

A desperate attempt to present themselves as reasonable and responsible people, but more likely an attempt to maintain their lunatic policies - noted here.... and subsequently, sales have increased....

the bump stock weapon found in the hotel room is being used as a sacrifice.

"we will consider legislation against bump stock weapons"

cool.

what about the 22 fully automatic assault rifles that were also in the room?

I don't think there are any guns that kill. It is the person behind the gun that causes the killing. I like to think I am a responsible person as I used to carry a G3, a 9mm pistol and a fully automatic Uzi sub machine gun for protection when I was traveling. Obviously this was not in the UK or the Americas.

That reminds me of when I lived in Que Que Rhodesia,To carry a gun at that time was essential if you wanted to stay alive.

It's very interesting, the police can't find any reason why, he went on his rampage. Goes to show.
I've know idea why Americans think that its normal to have multiple gun ownership. Why on earth do people want or need to have semi automatics, never mind a device to convert them into automatics.
When you listen to th NRA, defending their stance, the people sound crazy as their reasoning, as their is no logic in their thinking, No wonder they have an enidemic on their hands.
the most bizarre mantra they seem to have "guns don't kill, people do" surely thats the one most biggest reasons of all to ban guns.

I remember Que Que and now you know why I carried guns when traveling to places like Chiredzi and Inyanga. I worked for WRS and Hire A Vision in Salisbury and before that BSAP.

I listen online to a country music station in Abilene Texas. The adverts certainly are an eye opener, "Texas gun range. We got 9mm Glocks for personal deeeefence". On the radio station website they advertise neoprene concealed carry holsters for a quick draw...

What would be interesting is to know if crimes such as burglaries and robberies are lower per population head than elsewhere?

I would guess they are in Teaxas Ian. You can legally shoot an intruder on your property provided the bullet holes are in the intruder's front not their back. It's fair to say though Tony Martin would have been nicked even in Texas because the hole was in back of the scroat he killed.
