Anyone been to Conkers?

We are staying at Conkers C&CC at Easter. I have been looking for walks and have found this am I right in thinking that we can do these walks without paying to go into Conkers Adventure Park or whatever it is called?

There are lots of walks in the area including one within Conkers with activities along the way. I think the ones you are looking at are the general National Forest way marked walks. Conkers itself we found to be disappointing. Many of the indoor interactive activities didn't work and the outside play area whilst OK is extremely busy. Just a little further afield you could do some walks around Tickall and Melbourne - there's a booklet produced by the Melbourne Civic society which gives details of several walks in the area- I think it's available from their website but it is available (usually) from the newsagents in Melbourne centre.

Thank you will check that out

I suspected that Conkers might be busy, none of us like really busy places so we will definitely just do some nice free walks

There are some lovely walks in this area. Calke Abbey (National Trust) has some great walks as does Rosliston Forestry Centre and Hicks Lodge also. The walk to Moira Furnace from Conkers is nice too.
Haven't been to Conkers for a while, last time I went it seemed a little run down although the play areas are good.

A word about Calke Abbey - ok if you are a National Trust member BUT if not they charge per person just to drive in then you pay for the gardens and also the house. It can get expensive! However if you go to Calke Village ( about 5 houses) you can park roadside for free and walk in or park in Ticknall at the village hall and walk in for free.
