I was the same at one time though managed to master the mysteries of the pc by trial and error and now I'm never away from it - my pc is the new tv! lol - though occasionally if something goes wrong I shout for help on here.

Don't worry, you'll get there in the end. I got so confident with mine that I now write a blog of my camping travels, a page of which I'm doing at the moment.

You can find my blog by clicking 'my homepage' at the top of my posts on here. I have a few favourite sites in various parts of the country which I go to regularly though I often try new places too.

One of my hobbies is photography so camping gives me a chance to get shots of different places and my blog gives me the opportunity to show off some of my pics. I've recently treated myself to a new camera of a much higher spec so I'm dying to try it out. The weather was fantastic last weekend and just right for camping but I was looking after someone else's dogs so couldn't go. Now I can the weather's a bit hit and miss for the photos I want to take. Remember British Rail having the wrong sort of snow? Well it's now the wrong sort of weather! lol

My late father passed away last year, he was a press photographer at Heathrow Airport since 1958 till he retired after coming out the Royal Navy where he was a RN photographer. I have a collection of 10 cameras of his I am trying to sell and an album of one off shots of celebrities that allowed him to take the one shot of them for his private collection, there all original black and white photos, never been copied or released commercially, my dad developed his own photos and destroyed the negatives to these shots so they could never be copied or duplicates made from the original negatives. There's a photo of Charlie Chaplin and his whole family at Heathrow airport he never allowed his family to be photographed outside the confines of his private residence but allowed my dad to take the shot for my dad's private collection because he saw my dad so many times at the airport they became friends

Wow, the album sounds really interesting and certainly a one-off. What a fantastic thing to have.

My own dad was a very keen amateur photographer and used to develop and print all his own black and white photos when I was a kid and I loved helping him. We used to put blackout curtains at the windows in the living room and banish my mum to the other room while we were working. He got into colour transparencies when I was about eight and got me my first camera when I was twelve. It's a shame he's not around now as he would really love the digital way of doing things.

Yes it is there's some fantastic photos in the album.

That's the one thing my dad couldn't get into and wanted nothing to do with was digital photography, I remember him saying to me once after coming back from a wedding assignment ( he did weddings in his spare time) that there was a young photographer at the wedding firing off shots one after the other with a digital and dad said what's that all about, the idea of taking a photo is to look for and line up the shot and shoot, one shot the ultimate photo, that's photography, not firing off hundreds of shots then picking the best.

Dad took me to the coast one night in a thunder storm to see the lightening on the horizon, he had his Rollieflex with him, this blanket lightening went across the horizon and dad fired a shot off, one shot, he captured a perfect silhouette of a super tanker out to sea with the lightening behind it, you could see all the detail of the ship it was amazing. Dad devilled the shot and showed it to me and said, that's how you take a photo the right place, the right time, and if the shot is there you take it. Talk about split second timing.

Hello there

Hope everyone is well. I've just made the most impulsive purchase of a thomson miniglen, my first ever caravan and first ever camping experience to be!   I collect it tomorrow and I'm scared... Really really scared!!
I'm not the most DIY savvy of people and I'm frightened I've just had temporary middle age meltdown and bought what is essentially a chicken shed :-(

Hope none of you will mind my constant stupid questions and need for advice

Em
