Can't speak for it but it's a Rexton (with T) if you are doing any searches for it.

Looks like your going to be very close to 100% match with most of the models.

Legally it could tow more though.

Looking at the figures, I have to think why doesnt it have more power or better fuel consumption. I know its a big heavy vehicle but.

118bhp - 160bhp from nearly 3 litres.

Have a good test drive and if its got a towbar stand on it to see how much the back end drops.
If not get a couple of people to sit on the back end.

Post 1997 licence holder?

Max tow weight = Cars gross laden weight + Caravans gross laden weight.

These 2 figures must not exceed 3500kg. And the Caravans gross laden weight must not exceed the cars UNLADEN weight.

Unless the manufacturer has set a lower limit.

I'm on my second Rexton. First one was a mid range, now on top of the range(186bhp). We pull a Lunar Clubman(2011) and it's a great towcar, never had any problems with it. The back end does not drop with the van on it. We have towed to the South of France with it and never had any issues.

The only thing I will need to do this year is get the air-con recharged.

We are in the process of changing our 2008 Rexton SPR and Buccaneer Caravel for a motor home, The car is just like new in all ways and comes fully loaded with all conceivable extras, the engine is 186Bhp.  It obviously has a tow bar which is wired for 13 pin plus a 12n which we use on our little trailer. If you want to pop over and try it you are more than welcome, or would like any further information please e-mail me on terry.birch at ntlworld.com  i am looking for £9250

Our tourer days are over and we have moved on to a Autotrail Mohican Motorhome

We would never say a bad word about our Rexton. Tows our Abbey Vogue 600 with ease. We have not had any alterations done to it (2006 2.7Xdi 7 seat) and don't feel the need for more power. The Abbey tops out at 1700 and I expect we are always close to that figure. When we change the car we would most certainly get another Rexton. The kerbweight of ours is over 2000kg so nowhere near 100% match - more like 85%. Not sure what figures Grampian91 looked at but even with a roofbox we are getting 29 - 30 mpg towing. Asking for more than that from a big 4x4 is expecting Utopia.

The SPR like FM02ZMO has is a great model and on our next shopping list next year. Good luck with finding one - they are getting popular with the towing fraternity as they are a very good big towcar.
