Hi All,

Having a hunt around for a hitchlock for our Tardis and can't find any insurance approved that are detailed as fitting ours.

I bought a hitchlock off ebay new that was listed as fitting various different hitches but unfortunately doesn't fit ours.

Any help greatly appreciated, google isn't turning up much at the moment.

Thanks,
Andy.

Isnt the AK10/2 a standard ALKO non stabiliser hitch?

Virtually all of the locks sold should fit.
Not the stabiliser hitch ones though.

Insurance approved or thatcham approved?

Read the reviews before buying. I have a mechanical mind, Always working on cars and general DIY work.

Some locks seem to have obvious flaws in their design.

I have a Purpleline lock and it can be removed with a pair of long nose pliers. I know because i arrived at the storage without the keys/tools to remove it.

Max tow weight = Cars gross laden weight + Caravans gross laden weight.

These 2 figures must not exceed 3500kg. And the Caravans gross laden weight must not exceed the cars UNLADEN weight.

Unless the manufacturer has set a lower limit.

I'm assuming its a standard hitch, I was just wary of outlaying more cash without being sure.

It just needs to be insurance approved as far as I'm aware, that's what my insurance quotes.

Will take onboard your advice re researching flaws.

Thanks for your help.

Do they list locks that they approve though?

Thatcham gold standard is about as good as it gets. So if you start with those you wont go far wrong.

Ive deen devices that overcome hitch locks. Crude clamps with a new hitch attached.

Not seen a lock that can overcome that. Chopping thieves hands off would be a greater deterrant.
