A towbar is a towbar. BUT i would avoid that seller like the plague. ITALY...

Are the towbars upto UK standards? What happens when it doest fit properly?

It will cost you just as much to send it back.

Dont forget cars in Italy may have different spec/ bumpers to UK ones.

If your towing a tiny trailer and dont mind butchering your bumper to make it fit then carry on. Otherwise buy something from the UK.

Post 1997 licence holder?

Max tow weight = Cars gross laden weight + Caravans gross laden weight.

These 2 figures must not exceed 3500kg. And the Caravans gross laden weight must not exceed the cars UNLADEN weight.

Unless the manufacturer has set a lower limit.

Some years ago I had a right set too with Vauxhall Vectra over removable Towbars. The handbook had 2 pages on attaching and removing it, but Vauxhall claimed they did not supply one for it.

After a long letter from head office it turned out the handbook was translated from German, and while the particular towbar was a standard fitting in Germany it did not have type approval in the UK.

It would seem that you must have a UK type approved towbar, and remember they are subject to MOT scrutiny these days.
