With inspiration after seeing Zenobia making her own beautiful tent carpet and thinking what a brilliant idea it was, I decided to try to make my own for the pods of our Nevada M.
I used some anti pill fleece, wadding and a waterproof type backing material and this was the result.........
I just need to get some more materials to do one for the other bedroom pod now. It's very contagious once you make something yourself for the tent, now I'm thinking about what other customisations I can do!

Well done Lchristine they look really good. Have you tried them in the washer yet to see how they fare? I am altering the awning on my Comanche TT so i'm able to erect on my own (hopefully)

What a cracking idea! Can you let me know where you got the backing from? I think I am going to give this a shot. Your one looks amazing, I hope I can get mine to look anywhere near as good.

Where did you get the materials from. I thought about making one last year but could not find fleece in wide widths - would probably have to sew a few widths together to get it to the width that we would need but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

See Christine, I told you starting your own thread would pass the inspiration on! Before we know it there will be a whole string of carpet making, tent altering campers out there! I think we should have a dedicated thread that everyone can be inspired by and add to - maybe the mods can set up a special section just for DIY camping accessories. Can't wait to see what your next project will be..........it opens up a whole new world doesn't it
Val - loving the carpet....you made a little bag for it and everything

Hi Glynnis - what are you doing to your awning? Don't forget to take loads of pics and post your efforts on here!

Ooooh.forgot to ask Val - Was the nylon from Batya? I meant to look at that when I was there last time, would be useful to know if it was any good. Could put a link on here if it is - it would be useful for anyone who wants to give it a go, but can't find any backing.

Hi Tracey. Ayo says Hi and hopes you are well. The awning for the Comanche TT does not have zip out panels, so i am cutting panels out and adding zips. I will then be able to 'throw the top of it onto the 'roof' of the TT. That enables me to build the frame and then pull the top over the frame, then zip the panels on, easier to do when i'm by myself. Does that make sense????

That's so very clever and beautifully made (ditto Val and Zenobia too). You have inspired me as I need (aka want) a carpet for the Estoril to replace the picnic rugs and haven't found a good fit yet. In fact, I woke this morning after dreaming about making a bespoke tent carpet. Thanks for the ideas and instructions.

I purchased the backing from my nearest but not very local haberdashery shop in Lewisham, I know that they have branches in Holloway and Edmonton but no online ordering facility unfortunately. I def recommend giving it a shot, once I finished mine I regretted buying an expensive Outwell carpet for the main tent area when I could have done it myself!

I've not tried them in the washer yet, I think when it's time to give it a good clean, I'll hang it out on the line and use a pressure washer. Good luck with your alterations, they will be worth the time and effort if it means you can erect it on your own, more camping opportunities

Is Zens fault, started us all on the carpets! (backed mine with waterproof black nylon off ebay)
I love your carpet Val, I love anything that's Cath Kidstonish, only my OH just about agreed to a pink flowery fan heater, so I don't think I'd get him to agree with as bright a carpet

LChristine and Val, how much roughly did they cost. They look fantastic. Also where did you obtain your materials from. Thanks.
I purchased the backing, wadding, and the binding material for the trim from Rolls and Rems, a haberdashery shop in Lewisham. The anti pill fleece I got from a website called remnanthouse.co.uk . The carpet wasn't the cheapest of things to make all together I think it cost about £27
