Y'know how some of us keep count of the number of nights we camp in a year, and display it in our signature? Well, I have a Dilemma...
Does New Years eve count as the last night of 2017, or the first night of 2018?

Got 4 nights booked, from the 29th, to the 2nd. Our very first camping over the festive period.
Got to risk putting our beloved tent on hardstanding, but that was always going to happen at some stage, what with us being addicted to all year round camping, and only a handful of sites offering grass pitches through the winter.
We'll be joined by my niece and her partner in their caravan for the 4 nights, and our son and his girlfriend for the 30th & 31st, in our Freddy (Kampa Frinton 4 Classic).

Sleeping in the tent of course, but with the added bonus of spending the cold, dark... and very, very long... evenings in a nice warm cosy caravan! I hope they don't insist on silence from 11pm!! Don't normally turn in at New Year until 00:15!!

Hoping to get 2, or even 4, more nights in before then, but have to say, we're very much somewhat extra-excited to be seeing the New Year in on a campsite for the first time. Hopefully, it will start the New Year off as we mean to go on!

-------------
2017: 31 nights/7 camps
2016: 32 nights/8 camps
2015: 38 nights/11 camps
2014: 34 nights/10 camps
2013: 36 nights
2012: 23 nights

I reckon you need to count it as 0.5 nights for each year.

The lengths some people go to so they don't have to pay Council tax by leaving their house empty for 6 months of the year!

Wishful thinking!
Think we would all be away more if that was the case. The majority of councils now require council tax to be paid on empty properties.

I would camp New Year if I could persuade hubby. Maybe the new tent will help

I think as the day is 31st December it has to be counted as 2017 but if you don't go to bed until after midnight that could make it 2018.

Tough one, maybe see how many days you have for 2017 and decide which year you want it to be in

-------------
2017
Hertford Easter 5 nights
Scarborough April 2 nights
Drayton Manor May 4 nights
Flockton July 2 nights
Norwich August 7 nights
Annstead Farm August 7 nights
Annstead Farm September 2 nights

I reckon a whole day for 31st, as you will be arriving during the day, and from midnight onwards another day

Enjoy

I'm a day older just trying to get my head round it, never mind actually doing it!!

Anyway, that's cheating, as I count the number of nights.
Think I'll put the 31st down as the last night of this year. With what we've got planned (hoping for 2 x 2 nighters) between now and then, we might just match our personal best of 38 nights in one calendar year. Shame we don't look likely to beat it.

A few months ago I decided to go camping so packed my car the night before but when I got up in the morning I just didn't feel like going...so unpacked the car again

I am considering going camping tomorrow but won't pack the car yet just in case
