Most manufacturers fit Truma heaters nowadays, but the water supply to the caravan can be of a different manufacture. My present van is all Truma and the non-return valve is blue colour as most are and directly behind the inlet where it enters the van.

If you have an inlet which is blue colour outside it has the valve built in.If you look in the centre of the round part the hose pushes on there is the valve.Poke a small screwdriver in and see if it is free it may have some muck under it.If it still leaks water back out the unit will need replacing.

Thanks I've had a look it is as you said poked a screw driver in there is nothing in there could I just fit a connection iside the van on the pipe work or do you think I should replace the socket
There is no reason why if you want to is buy an in-line non return valve and cut the pipe just as comes inside the van and put it in there, unless you have the type of inlet which has a pressure switch adjustment on the back of it.If your system has an internal pressure switch or the system with micro-switches on the taps you can put it in pipe between inlet and pressure switch. If your inlet has pressure switch adjuster on the back you will have to replace the unit.
If it does not have an adjusting screw on the back to the left of where the water pipe goes on it is a standard one, therefore you can buy an in-line non-return valve from an accessory shop for about£6-8 and fit it in the pipe just inside of caravan.
