Hi all 1620 of you showing interest in our problem.
Latest update this morning a cheque arrived for the amount paid. This was from the dealer. Went to the Manchester show yesterday a GOOD Networking day. Met a Gentleman from Bailey itself who looked with interest at my 60 photographs, and assured me that we had to give the dealer a chance to repair. Wrong . The item purchased failed within 3 months of delivery,SOGA is very clear on this . They could have offered an replacement, but chose not to.
We as I have said ordered an awning specially for this caravan,we have paid site fees, insurance ,an independent engineer. etc etc . So the fight goes on. To date we have not disclosed who the selling Dealer is and until all legal paths have been exhausted we will not do so.
Some one some where has attempted a repair prior to us purchasing the Bailey. This is not allowed by ACT of Parliament "if its been repaired it is not new and should be described as such.

Not quite sure what you mean. Was the cheque a full refund of what you paid for caravan, ie a successful outcome?

Hi Jack+ Jon
Yes we have received a refund of the purchase price of the caravan, but we are out of pocket to the tune of over 5,000 . Site fees, we have ordered an awning that has had to be specially made 1175cm, our independent engineers fees and the also none refundable insurance costs. All these items were purchased in good faith and through no fault of ours are of no further use to us. All these items were purchased in good faith as was our dream caravan. We are entitled to compensation according to consumer law.
As we are both pensioner's we are on a fixed income, we cannot afford to take a hit like this nor are we willing to do so.

Well good luck with getting your expenses, but at least you can get another caravan. If you want another big twin axle your best bet would be a German make Like Hobby or LMC who do have UK importers. They would probably be cheaper than the Bailey as well & your awning would probably fit.

The way you have been treated is absolutely appalling.   I like you, would fight them to the bitter end for every last penny !  Not what you need in retirement, but i admire your guts and determination. Good luck in the future and keep your chin up...

WOW total views now over 2000 so we are not alone in this . Caravaners are a bunch of people that come from all walks of life and caravan because it suits their own specific needs. But one thing is very plain to see they are a very caring bunch of people Long may it continue to be so.
We have looked around both at The Manchester show and since on the web. To find a similar caravan is going to be very hard indeed.
This weekend we are off to Barnsdale Leisure near Pontefract WF83QE to have a look see,at the Adria's they have on show. They won the Gold for looking after customers after sales concerns in Practical Caravan    So it cannot do us any harm at all.
Reading on web site and forum sites this type of sealing joints is quite flawed our so it seems.
With the major advances in sealers why move away . OH yes its probably cheaper !!
Thankyou once again for your concerns and good wishes this is not over by a long chalk

We were speaking to our local Bailey dealer the other day and he told us that there have been 26,000 Alu-Tech constructed 'vans sold and the number with problems does not warrant the sort of hoo hah that is going around. We are pleased with our Pegasus, we like the 4 burner cooker, the side dinette and lockers that lock, unlike the new Pursuit range that depend on magnets. We also don't like the old roller blinds that Bailey have gone back to in the Pursuit.

Hi lambchop999
Many thanks for your comments regarding the Bailey that we had that was defective.ie water ingress.
We loved the caravan it was kitted out so well and we loved/adored it. We now realise that it has spoilt us as far as a replacement is concerned, we have spent Friday , Saturday, Sunday and this morning. We have been to dealership after dealership on what now seems a search for the holy grail. We have to have a massive fridge, Alde heating etc etc The Bailey has spoilt us it was amazing. But as brilliant as it was to piddle in after just three months of sitting on a pitch. It was a no brainer it had to go. We had no confidence in its ability to keep the rain out.
Whilst your local dealers comments regarding 26000 produced with only a few problems is very fair but if your caravan was one of the few you would be contributing towards as you say "the hoo hah". We are as I have said pensioners Iam disabled suffering many medical problems including PTSD . At our age we do not need this unnecessary hassle . It is more than obvious that it is something that potential customers are aware of look we have to date had 2323 viewings .
Many thanks for your comments and good wishes to all of the posts that have commented...

Hi Si-the-gas.
Many thanks for your kind comments, we are searching hard but are finding one that comes close to the Willow is VERY hard. We are going to the Show at the NEC at least the choices will be in one place.
We have had over 2500 viewings of our post so as we say in Lancashire "there is no smoke without a fire". Six weeks on from the leak showing it's self we are so upset but even more so so disappointed with our dream van turning into a night-mare.
Thankyou all you kind considerate people that share our passion for our choice of leisure activity.

Have you looked at German makes like Hobby? These companies have years of experience making large twin axle caravans & many are used for year round living.
-------------------------------------------------
I have noticed there are plenty of them used on a site in Cornwall on seasonal pitches and also stored there for occasional use

Hi birdman101
Funny you should say that as last weekend we went to (the other side of the Pennines) Yorkshire. One of the places we went to was Loudhams in Huddersfield and the very first van they showed us was a Dethleffs Nomad. Really quirky inside massive area great big drawers everything we were looking for (and at an amazing price) but it had a blown air quite old fashioned Truma system.
Once you have been in an Alde equipped van nothing else comes close. Even though I am told the latest Truma system is amazing. So your suggestion was very close to the spot.. If only it had Alde..

RUBBISH //// I have been reading from day one ON THIS so called magical water tight cure. these people do not tell lies or elaborate just for the sake of it. or something to do at the end of the day. I cannot afford one myself but if I had splashed out 20000 plus on a caravan and it let water in ANYWHERE I for one would be crying all the way to the dealers for some strong answers. question ,,,???if it was your new car would you put up with it.do not think so. FRIDAY VANS are now being made all week.no pride these days in the work we produce. cheap labour does not help things. retired quality engineering manager for a very large company so I have some insight as to what is going on.
the odd one gets through but there are lots and lots of them.

quality engineeering manager

Hi Michael
Many thanks for your comments (You can take the lad out of Lancashire but you cannot take Lancashire out of the lad) you are so like me it's uncanny. Iam as we speak preparing my documents in preparation for submission to the small claims court.
Something that I have noted in the independent engineers report is and I quote "one roof light over the bed and one roof light over the kitchen had been over sealed, I my opinion this could be hiding a previous problem of water ingress".
So in effect he is stating that the Willow had been repaired prior to being sold to us as "NEW".
In one way I really hope the Dealership and Bailey go to court because it will then come to light what is actually going on in SOME area's of the industry. To date I have refused to name the dealership but it is a totally different matter if it goes to court it will then be in the public arena.
