After winning a Canaria 4 for 26 on Ebay earlier in the week, today was the first chance I had to put it up.  It was the first time I have ever put a frame tent up, but it only took 25 mins from walking into the garden to having it fully up and the inner fitted.

I have one question, though.  I have two king poles left over (presumably used for an extension or tarp that I haven't got.  More confusingly, I have four small poles left over and have no idea what they're for.  Any ideas?

I had one of these years ago and those look like the poles for the kitchen extension on the Canaria 4K.  If so there should be two upright poles with metal spikes on the top.

The only thing is your tent does not have the kitchen extension as far as I can see!  I wonder if the poles and canvas are off two different tents?

Looks lovely though and they are really good tents.  I think you have had a bargain there.

Thanks for that!  I wondered about the kitchen extension, as the poles look like the correct angles.  the two king poles with spikes are there, too.  I have sent a message to the seller to see if they have mixed any poles up at their end.

Also: I have soaked it with a hose and can confirm it's lovely and waterproof!

Congratulations dmsplat - I have the same tent ( we called her Rita) and she's lovely. Hope you're not planning on using her for 4 people though!!!

Looks like the others are right about the poles - the poles for mine are coated with brown paint, not grey like yours appear to be. Looks like you've got the kitchen bit you don't need!!

A 2 x 3m tarp from b&q or similar works great as a groundsheet, and we use the carpet from out Icarus 500 - it goes most of the way under the bedroom too.

There are so many of us owning a Canaria 4 now I think we should start our own appreciation society!!!

Thanks Eliza - I've actually just come back in from measuring it for groundsheets & carpet!

I plan to mainly use it for 2 or 3 people, so we should be good for space for a couple of nights!
