Hello,
We are looking at bell tents. We really like the range and from what I have read the quality sounds good but when looking for reviews we came across this site which had some very scathing reviews of their customer service. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/belltent.co.uk

We have been in touch with them over pre purchase queries and they have been quick and friendly to respond and based on that I have zero complaints and would be very happy to order but we can't shake the niggling worry over what we read. So, any belltent.co.uk/ Camping with Soul customers with positive stories to reassure me? Or cautionary tales?
Many thanks,
Becca

Are the less favourable reviews recent?
If not, then perhaps the company have done something to rectify such problems and if so, all credit to them.

After a LOT of research, I bought a Blacks of Greenock Solace bell tent, so have no experience of Belltent UK., sorry.

Admittedly there are only 4.. the worst one is 10th August this year :( then a not great one from July, a very happy customer reviewing in May (but owning for a while) and then one from 2014 who had trouble actually receiving their tent (but was happy with the quality). On this site in tent reviews they are getting 9's and 10's, but

We looked at the Solace, following your recommendation, lovely tent but the clip in groundsheet just isn't for us, I can see our 3 year old thinking it is a great game to pull it apart and wriggle out!

yes, we like them :) At Bell tents we are looking at emperor with the heavier canvas. We are still trying to work out if the emperor or the 5m bell is better and as far as we can see only belltentuk and canvascamp do a heavier canvas emperor/twin. (we are looking at heavier canvas ideally as we are in Norway and whilst we don't intend to winter camp initially if we have to wait for perfect conditions we would be camping maybe in July ;)) I really like Soulpad as well, but they don't do the heavier canvas which we probably do need :-/ it has all got rather more complicated that I would have expected!

Isn't everything when you go into it...don't forget, if in Norway, Tentipi (do they do ZIGS? I'm not sure....) and the like, also 6 and 7 metre bells are available, as well as "emperors"....bigger than my cottage? lol!!

SoulPad I have a bias against...I tried to contact them as their showroom is not far from me, and, how can I put it?......not very welcoming?

But it IS fun hunting

Dealt with them twice. 1st time they let me down, 2nd time they were fine. I would not have dealt with them again after my 1st dealings, but they were the only ones who did the size of tarp we wanted so had no choice.

Sorry to hear that about Soulpad Caligula. I have been chatting with them and they have been lovely. Unfortunately the more I look into it the more it looks like the heavier canvas is a wise choice, which they don't currently have :( You are right, the researching and dreaming is fun :) we made our first tiny purchase yesterday, some battery powered fairylights

Hmm.. that doesn't sound very positive geoffprinter. I think we will continue looking at other suppliers. Getting very tempted by the Canvascamp Sibley 600 protech DD at the moment, you can roll up the canvas to reveal mesh walls which quite appealing from a keeping bugs out, point of view though how much use it will be in Norway is debatable.

Will do :) It should arrive Thursday apparently, which is pretty impressive from Belgium to Norway! They made the out of stock inner tent available to back order so we could order it now and not pay postage for a separate order (cos about 6 euros to send an inner tent with a tent but 49 euros to send separately! Hopefully we'll have it up in the garden this weekend and the forecast looks good for a bit of weathering Sunday and Monday ;)

Not yet, our back garden is basically a bog! soo much rain and there are slopes into it from two sides so we get everyone else's water too... We plan to go to a campsite nearby this weekend for a trial run :)

When I have cast my eye over Bell Tents I have often thought Sibley would be my choice.

Enjoy it!

Had a very nice overnight at a local campsite last night :) very impressed with the tent, It is huge and heavy but went up in about 20 mins with just my husband pitching while i held the baby and read the instructions :) We hadn't expected rain but it poured down late last night and we had no leaks despite it not being weathered :) Haven't tried the sides up, the mesh walls or canopy yet but so far we are very happy :)
