Hi All im looking for some ware to take the kids (10 years and 14 years both boys) away for october half term but im struggling. Want to go some ware that may have some kind of medieval events going on. Would also like to have to opportunity to do a bit of walking in forests to do a bit of mushroom hunting and see the changing colours of the trees.

Any area below leeds would be best as i live in south wales. Any further up just takes to long for a week away.

Any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Have a look at the English Heritage webpages they sometimes have Medieval re-enactments on. We stumbled accross one a few years ago and loved it!

I got an e-mail from English Heritage the other day, I've deleted it unfortunately but I remember that Whitby Abbey have some good events on and it's a lovely town to visit.

Pembroke Castle do events that you are looking for.

Haven't been ourselves but the castle alone is a good day out.

July 2013 ~ Martres Tolosane, Haute Garonne
July 2014 ~ Gorges du Tarn

Do you mean the ones on the keep?
Climbed them many times (my kids love castles) but the last time I visited came down very dizzy, so no more climbing for me lol
