Hi there I am relatively new to Camping although I have stayed in friends vans many years ago.
I have just bought a 2002 Static in North East Wales, which is where I currently reside.
I Love this Static and although it is in Excellent condition there is much that I want to do to it over the next 12 months.
Initially, I have a 'Four Point Plan' which involves:
Insulation under the flooring, Central Heating installation with new Worcester LPG Combi Boiler, New Double Glazing, and Decking. Quite a lot, but Im very excited at the prospects.
I am currently evaluating space inside the caravan as I intend to occupy the van for the full allowable period, next year. The Site is a lovely 'Holiday Site' not residential so I could live there for 10 1/2 months of the year, Me and the Dog may go to Portugal for the 42 days remaining, (Very economical for 3star Hotel on the beach with half board), (Excellent Food) and the Weather in January to March, far superior to North Wales.
I am going to need help from you guys who know whats what and would love to draw on your experience.
This is my introduction, I look forward to receiving some positive feedback, so we may engage in future communications.
Regards,

-------------

Im assuming you have the older model Brisbane without DG & GCH. My first thought was why would you buy one of these if you intend living in it for 10 months. The work you are planning will cost a fortune. We made the mistake of buying a single glazed non CH van 1st. After 6 weeks we traded it in for a DG &CH one. On the older vans the wall floor and ceiling insulation is virtually non existant and only really any good for warmer months. We lived in our new one for almost 2 years for the 10 month season and even in that which was a top caravan the gas bill in the winter was high. So my advice would be trade it in and get a newer model with heating and DG. I cant see it being much more expensive than the cost of the work you are planning. That being said its a great life and one I would quite happily go back to. Geoff

1st and 2nd caravans we owned. 1st one we kept 6 weeks. Freezing in March. 2nd one all mod cons lovely van

sounds like a lot of spending on an older caravan, is it worth it? check out how long the van can stay on site before spending any money, you may also need site owners permission to install deck etc and you might have to use the site approved installers

I hope I don't come across as being negative, we love our static in france and my mum and dad had one for many years in the north west - its a nice lifestyle through the summer months so enjoy !!!
