Hi,

I have a tourer, but was thinking of buying a good 2nd hand static and moving it to a site somewhere in Central Scotland. Everywhere I have phoned either; do not take vans not purchased by the site itself, must be under 5 years old. I have visited a couple and they have a few vacant with no takers, but it seems would rather have them empty, so why do they all do this?
Does anyone on this forum know of any sites that do, or am I on to a loser from the start??

Cheers

Paul

Not central Scotland but we had an old static which we sited at Innermessan which overlooks Loch Ryan, just across the bay from Stranraer. You could try there.

Hi Marleyp. Your experience is the same as mine down here in Southern England. In answer to your question as to why they do this, it's because they can!

We looked into buying a static at one time, and found that they all want you to buy from them, and when you want to sell they want it taken off site by the buyer, or sold to them for pennies. It's a rip-off. I hope you have a better experience in Scotland, maybe they have fewer rip-off merchants than down here!

Have you thought about siting your tourer! We have gone from being sited for 5 years to touring for 5 or 6 years and now sited again. The advantage of a tourer is you have more flexibility.

The reason I thought about a static was, I cannot get a season pitch anywhere that I have wanted to put my tourer on. There are waiting lists as long as my arm to get in to some. Had noticed the amount of vacant static pitches at several sites, so I thought that a static would be a good idea, doesn't look like it though.

Have you tried Mosshall Farm CP near Whitburn. They do have seasonal pitches.
