Hi all,
        My parents have a static caravan and the chassis needs some attention, remove rust and paint, does anyone know if there's someone who could quote for this type of work, thanks

why does it need attention? you may be surprised how strong a chassis might be, even if its showing signs of delamination due to rust. you could use a rust eater (painting it on)but that could be quite expensive over the whole of the chassis, but it would stop further deterioration.

cant you do it to help them? its not rocket science, just a dirty messy job that needs goggles, mask, hat, overalls and the ability and willingness to spend two or three days under the van !

Scrape off loose or flaking rust then spray with Waxoyl (don't use a brush, the layer will be too thin). This will be a lot quicker and easier than paint. Check it again once the solvent has evaporated - if there are any high spots still showing signs of rusting just spray again. Its effective stuff used in the classic car world to give protection to areas that simply aren't accessible for painting.

we used to red lead my father in laws van.
that was when my mates used to do the boilers at the power stations, great stuff whatever they say.
