Hello, just signed up, seems a very useful site!

Was just wondering if anybody knew of any sites that aren't so strict on noise levels after a certain time (11pm)? About 10 of us (around 18 years old) are looking for somewhere to go in the summer in the north of England that will allow us to have a drink at night, maybe play some music etc.

Of course, not a lot of fellow campers would appreciate this, so is there anywhere to go that is maybe aimed toward groups such as us?

Cheers for any replies!

Think you will struggle. May be worth lookin for sites that have rally fields.

A rally field is an area to hire for a private party tho usually families who want to camp together. Some sites have more than one and they are quite far from everyone else.

The beach maybe? No offence, but I wouldn't want you anywhere near me.

The last thing we want is to annoy other people who maybe want a quieter break... hence why I'm asking for campsites that could be alright with it !

Thanks for your useful reply, anyhow...

The beach is a good suggestion - cheap too!

As said above - I reckon a group of 18 year olds with drink and music would thoroughly ruin other peoples holidays - and I doubt you would be able to do it 2 nights in a row,  I'm sure you can understand the stress it would cause to families near to you who aren't sure how the antics are going to end up.

Get ya self away to the beach or somewhere wild and free!  That's what we used to do, we didn't want to be on a site cramping our style - Great fun!

(unless you'd all feel safer staying closer to the mams and dads)

How hung up are you on available facilities. If you want  you could allways aproach a farmer and ask if he/she would let you use a field of theirs for a few nights. That way you could have an area just to yourselves with no one around to complain.

Look at 'CL' sites (room for 5 caravans normally) and you may even be able to book the whole thing and do what you want.   We stayed on a CL (farmers field with Elec hook ups) in Thornton Watless N.Yorks - had the whole place to ourselves

Can't beat a bit of security from the mams and dads haha...

I know what you're saying about ruining others holidays, which is why I came on here to ask if there's any sites for our type.

Hadn't considered just setting up in a random field tbh, maybe that's the way to go then. I'll look into it, cheers Chase and Survivors.

If you're looking at the north, why not try Scotland which is a lot more understanding about wild camping - this is where you camp away from roads etc, making sure you leave the place exactly as you found it. You could take bottled water with you and ahem 'dig' your own facilities - proper camping!!!  Good luck!

A rally field is where a site or farm lets a field out to an organised group. I'm guessing they would tend to be a group from a club. The two main clubs are the Caravan Club & the Camping and Caravanning Club.  Both clubs also have smaller sites (typically a farm for example) that allow only 5 caravans and a few tents on them. You would need to be members to use those. I also wouldn't advise them as people use them for peace & quiet - unless maybe you were booking the whole place exclusively?

Good luck, don't be put off, just be prepared to make a shortlist and do lots of ringing around to explain.  I do remember going to a campsite in Littlehampton (down south!) when I was 17 with my mate and it pretty much seemed to be anything goes - I would hate to go there now that I'm all grown up!

Do you particularly want to go camping or are you just looking for a cheap holiday?  You could look at camping barns or bunkhouses instead which tend to cater for large groups and don't cost the earth ie http://www.lakelandcampingbarns.co.uk/barnsearch.asp?barnTown=Any&barnCapacity=Any

How about a festival? Doesn't have to be one of the big ones! But most festivals having groups and parties going on all night.
