I felt the need to comment on the booking quote i got from Sandy Balls today.A week in August for my family of four =375.00!  Bloody hell thats 54 quid a night. We used to go there lots but i have to say in our opinion thats crazy money. The pool.pub and club are all the same size they used to be years ago and they were over subscribed then.I cant see how they can justify asking that much for a night.

Anybody else had any crazy quotes?

In a word no.  But we tend to stay well clear of the 'all singing and dancing' sites.  That is a heck of an amount for one weeks camping plus you will need to add on spending money and food allowance etc.  You would be cheaper going abroad!!  There are hundreds of sites out there that would be a fraction of the cost.  Have you looked and priced other sites in the area?

The reason you are paying throught the neck is because of all the facillities ie pool, pub and club.

Agree.  And it's Dorset, so anything South/South West in high season is extortionate.  Actually I don't think the price is that bad compared with some basic sites in Devon(I won't name names) but one without a pool, bar, or entertainment etc charges just over 40.00 a night during the Summer, so comparing that with Sandy Balls for what you are getting Sandy Balls is probably about right.  Although it doesn't make it right.

Just sums up the cost of stuff in Britain today.

We've stayed at Sandy Balls 2 or 3 times but that was before they hiked their prices!

It was fairly reasonable prior to this. But now they're also charging something like 4 a night per dog

I would consider going back in low season or if they had a special offer. But, I have to say I'm taking my hard earned cash elsewhere and to a site that gives us more value for money!

Don't blame the sites totally !Blame the banks for the mess were in then blame the same bank and insurance investors who are creaming the British public every way possible .
If you thing your insurance fuel food etc are getting expensive image what the bill for a holiday park is . Just heating the pool must cost a fortune .
But hay we can complain about business and not use them .
As long as the top 1 % get there bonuses alls well .

It is a high price, but you are paying for all the facilities for a family of four, don't think you could go abroad and get the equivalent for 375.

Do agree there are a large number of price points available, even in August. This is only really expensive if you pay for all the facilities and don't want or make use of them. If you don't want or need them there are many other options open to you.

im paying 209 for a family of 6, pool, beach, club house etc for the 2nd week of the main school hoildays, which is just under 30 a night, took me ages to get a site that was a reasonable price for a large family, most wanted about 40, but i find sandy balls far to expensive

We are going to Sandyballs camping on the 22nd March for 5 nights with EHU etc etc and the grand total was 60. We thought this was a great price but do appreciate that it is cheap because it was out of season so to speak.

When they sent the reservation through they gave us our pitch number and it seemed to be the furthest away from the toilets and showers. I called them up and asked to be moved because we have a little one who is only 3 and wanted to be closer to the amenities. They couldn't have been nicer and sorted it all out.

Really hoping it will be a good break, but I have to say that there is no way I would have considered this site had they been charging nearly 50 a night. If we enjoy it, I might need to keep this site for start or end of season when the prices are cheaper.

Unfortunately as with many things the price rockets the minute the kids are on school hols
