We have noticed whilst reading a lot of the threads that there seems to be a lot of campers going to Solway View in June. We were just wondering as we are going the last week in May if there will be anyone there at the same time as us. It would be really nice to put some faces to names and have a catch up

Hi Keanonwuk, its your fault it was you who first put us onto Solway View - a secret which will not be kept for much longer me thinks! We are really looking forward to going

It is absolutely amazing what great sites are out there - its just a matter of trying them out.

You are very welcome and yes we think it is a gem of a site, well run, lovely views, plenty to do close by, fires allowed, and run by ex-campers Neil and Patricia. We attempt to go twice a year so perhaps we may meet you there yet.

Well, I've just managed to get a cancellation pitch for the June bank holiday there! I typically messed up our original plans but have hit the jackpot here if the reviews are correct!

We will be there in June for the Queen's jubilee week. We have friends who are staying in one of the new 'en suite' wigwams!

We will be in the Rimor caravan flying a union jack windsock. Come over and say hi if you spot us! Fingers crossed for some better weather.

I quite fancied Solway View, but having just looked at their tariff there's something I find a bit strange and that's the limit of 4 adults per pitch. Now I can understand if they are trying to make this a predominantly family site, but as children aged 16 are classed as adults, my family would consist of 4 adults and we sometimes like to take one of the kids friends along, which obviously we wouldn't be able to do, shame really cos it looks nice.

Hi, we went over Easter and it is a lovely site. Definately can recommend. Great setting, loads to do in the area, good facilities, large pitches with picnic bench and firepit, bliss!

Unfortunately we came home early because of the wind but will definately be returning! TraceyD, I would phone Neil and Patricia to explain your situatio as I'm sure they would understand. I think they may just be trying to discourage large, rowdy groups. Worth a try.

Keanonwuk, we miss you when we were there, prob due to the weather and being out and about most of the time, maybe our paths will cross another time

This site is also on my 'definitely must visit' list. Can I just ask, do any of you who have been before take young children with you? My children are 10, 6 and 5 years old and I am hoping that they would enjoy the site and the area as much mummy and daddy would.

Hi Alicia, yes our children 9 and 6 came with us and loved it. I've actually just submitted a review. The tents are in a semi-circular layout with a small play park at the top and a big field in the middle to play games on. The beach is a five minute walk from the site. Loads for kids in the Dumfries area. Mountain biking and huge play area at Cream of Galloway, as well as amazing ice cream! Big outdoor centre at Loch Ken. Loads of wildlife activities and ours enjoyed the gem museum too. Definately recommend it, there's something for everyone.
