A question, if you have a seasonal pitch, do you still have to pay a pitch fee when you vist your pitch?

That depends on the site. Most do not but some have a nightly charge on top, you need to find parks in the area you want to be and ask as many questions as you can think of.

ie - what dates does the pitch start and finish - some are a lot shorter than others.

does it include electricity, can awnings be left up or not, any extras to pay, can the caravan be taken off site and brought back etc etc

We pay our seasonal fee (£1800) and then pay the electric on a card meter. Nothing per night and the season is from the beginning of March to mid November

We charge £1800 for 12 months pitch (not residential) and electric is by card system.

However, our own tourer is on a pitch and that is £2,000 plus electric for 11 months.

Neither then charge a nightly fee.  However, a few years ago we were on a site that charged an electric fee for every night you used the caravan of £2.50 per night.

But charges do vary greatly throughout the country and often depends on how long they are for as well.

We pay £1600 for an all weather pitch, including electric and free showers, from 1st March to 31st October.  Winter storage is included (van stays on it's pitch) and, as it is an all year round site, can be used out of season on payment of a nightly pitch fee.  Awning can be left up but we take ours down at the end of October and use a porch awning if we go over the winter.

Think you have to pay  the nightly charge if you have a storage pitch, ie, the owners pull your van out of their storage compound, and sites it for you, this is different to a seasonal pitch, so a lot cheaper.

We couldn't justify a proper seasonal as we only go weekends and for a couple of full weeks so use a C&CC site storage, we pay £180 from March-end Oct and then per night at £12.

The downside is that you have to put it on a pitch each time and set up but we have it down to a fine art and it only takes 30 minutes maximum from pulling on site to sitting down but on the plus side we get a different pitch/view everytime, never get the same neighbours, can choose the sunny pitches as it moves throughout the season and we can take it off site for a complete change of scenery without the guilt that we're paying a seasonal fee elsewhere.

We charge £1850.00 for a seasonal pitch. This is on a gravel super pitch where you can leave your awning up all season. The electric is on a digital meter (not cards) and you get a bill at the end of the season. The price also includes winter storage. We are open March to October.

We also do storage at £1.25 per night, where you then pay the usual rate when using the caravan.

Thank you all for your response, I've been looking at sites in Hampshire New Forest but not cheap at all. £2950 at one site then £2250 both of theses sites I found through UKCampsite, so I'm not having much luck.

New Forest area is always more expensive, could you go slightly outside that area? You may well find an extra 10 minutes on your journey will save you some money
