We are hoping to go to Yorkshire in July with our 2 teenagers (15 and 19). My daughter will have just finished school and we want to take them away for about 5 days and have a nice family holiday doing things that they will enjoy. We want to do Go Ape, Lightwater Valley and Eden Camp.

We would like a small, quiet, level site with clean toilet/showers and EHU. We are going to be taking our new tent for me and hubby and old tent for the kids, so really looking for somewhere quite cheap as we will have to get 2 pitches, (No more than about £12-£16 per pitch with EHU), so probably a certificated site.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks Steve

That site looks really nice. Have you stayed there? One of the reviews mentions quite a lot of road noise and I was just wondering if there is or not (only one person mentions it)

  Hi Lynne

I've stayed at Wyse House and it might have been my review that mentioned the noise, its more of a background hum, that does eventually fade out, however if you are planning lots of days out then it probably won't bother you.  Apart from this the site is really really lovely, gorgeous bathroom 'hut' that has two large bathrooms with shower, toilet, sink etc with the 'kitchen' inbetween them, but they are so tastefully decorated, very shabby chic.

You are also ideally placed for easily accessing Go Ape at Dalby forest, Flamingo Land and Eden camp (which is literally just across the road)

Another very cheap site nearby if your not bothered about facilities apart from loo's and showers is Carr House Farm which is up the road, between Pickering and Malton.

  Good Luck with finding somewhere

  Best wishes Sam

Naburn Lock says no tents

Also find it strange that they stipulate only one 6-pole windbreak, surely if you are paying for a pitch its up to you how you utilise it?

We like Brenk House Farm near Coxwold. Not much there but its quiet and the owners are lovely. You are also in a good location to get to the coast or to York or even into the Yorkshire Dales.

We like Blackbull at Pickering, not far from Eden Camp. We go there quite a lot. Great site loads of room, very large pitches.

Hi

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Looking through them all I think it is definately between Marfit Head Farm and Brenk House Farm. Both are good value and have good reviews. I think I will email to check availabllity at Marfit Head first as this is probably a bit nearer the area we want to stay.

Thank you again for all your replys

Marfit Head Farm is a Caravan Club CL for members only and they don't accept tents.

Brenk House Farm is a Camping and Caravanning Club CS for members only (you can usually join on site if you're not already a member) and they will accept tents if space premits.

We stayed at Marfitt Head Farm last year and we were in a tent. Really enjoyed it despite it being the wettest camping trip we have ever had.

Marfit Head has a 20 pitch commercial site as well as the 5 van site - they do take tents, our friends pitched theirs alongside our van, there were also numerous other tents, the 5 van site is the field nearest the main road & is therefore the noisiest, the main field overlooks Trevors field for calving his cows in, always busy as he has 600 cows - yes 600 plus the view is better

Ah good thank you for the clarification. I was confused because it does say on here that they accept tents. I have emailed to book anyway so will hopefully here back from them soon. I'm glad its the field at the back as the other one does look very close to the road on google maps.
