Going to Tewkesbury shortly.  Does anyone have any recommendations for things to do and also places to eat?  Will be there for my birthday and I'm pretty sure there's a law about not cooking in caravans on your birthday!!!!!!!

I take it that the site is back open again after the floods?

Its open according to the caravan club website.  However, I don't go till the end of July so anything could happen.  Lets hope the weather picks up and summer begins.

A few more obvious ones - the Malvern hills are stunning, not far from Worcester which is lovely, as is Tewkesbury itself. The Abbey is nice, lots of history in the old streets and of course the rivers.
I would definitely have a back up plan in case of flooding though. my dad grew up there and his first memory is of making paper boats to float down the road outside their house....

hi. been to tew abbey a few times now and always enjoy it, there is a weatherspoons pub on the highstreet, and for a nice trip on the river a boat service goes up to the fleece inn for a nice meal out. also a trip out to cheltenham is a good day out.

If you want a very nice meal, go to Lower Lode Inn on the outskirts of Tewkesbury. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=lower%20lode&by=sitename

Just got back from Tewkesbury. Great site for being able to get into town, the site is right by the Abbey, which is well worth a visit. As Ellroy says there is a Weatherspoons just 5 mins from the site, cheap and cheerful and good service. However if you want somewhere a bit more special for your birthday treat I can recommend Owen's practically opposite the Abbey. We had a very nice and special meal there with excellent food and service. Also staying close means you could both drink and a just a short stroll back to the caravan.
Enjoy :)

The Roses Theatre usually has things going on, maybe worth a look... The town is very quaint and lovely... I love Tewkesbury!!
