Hi Geoff, that's interesting, I'll keep an eye out for vanishing images and save to an album (I did use to log in to Photobucket - i have another rhyming slang name for them now - by FB so it'a all very confusing ).
You were by the Martello tower - part of the Napoleonic war defences - several along the coast, some made into homes. The beach isn't the prettiest with all the sea defences (and maybe left over bits from the war) but it's a fascinating bit of coast for that, and due to the geography of landslips from chalk on top of clay. You can walk from Folkestone all the way to Dover along the seashore, given the right tides and time of year. The last time I went to The Warren beach was about 36 years ago on a geography field trip during my A levels. I walked all day, then back to school in Dover, and performed in a dance show that evening at the Town Hall. Wish I had that energy now!
Another nice place to visit if you're down that way again, is St Margaret's Bay, the other side of Dover. You can walk across the cliffs from there to Kingsdown near Deal. And there's The Coastguard pub right on the beach for great fish and chips.
Oh to be camping now that spring is here
