i am so cross!!!! I went to go outdoors yesterday and was told my card had expired which i accept so paid the £4. However my card has been damaged and they struggle to use it every time i go so i asked if i could have a new one to which i was told no so i asked why not because i had just paid for another one. i was told that they dont give new cards out so i asked if instead of renewing i could join again therefore getting a new card. No you cant do that either because then "you will get two emails sent and 2 catalogues sent instead of one!" Thats fine i said, i will pass the catalogue to my friend. To which i was told you cant do that!! I have emailed go outdoors, why cant i have a new card because when i have just paid for one?!!!!!!

British customer service at its best.

Most companies,banking/credit card etc will replace your card if its damaged,so what's their problem. No doubt some jobsworth who likes to exert their authority.

I'm p***d off at them too. They have the Vango Beta 350 on offer this weekend at £49.95 but it's in store only, bah. I'm not trailing half way across Scotland just for that, so one sale less for them.

I've not even got a Go Outdoors remotely near me in Norfolk.

70 miles is nearest.................. until July when a Norwich one opens. At last. Just need IKEA now and I'll be smiley happy.

I think you will find, if you look at your card, that it will have a number on the back. These cards are not created like a credit type card with the ability to replicate or renew your details. They come in a batch and the top card from that batch gets swiped when your details are put into the system and simply registers that card number to your details and so cannot be replicated as the information is not on the card just a number. As you renewed your old card the number will remain the same, if the card was damaged before you did this it would have been better to re register at that point and get a new card.

The answer is to not use your card when you visit a go store just give the person on the counter your post code and house number and they can track it just as quickly as swiping your card.

As for registering twice I think you will find that the system will throw back a second registration as the name and address already exists on the system. However, I think the person your dealt with could have handled things a bit better or perhaps they are not told why themselves.

You're right 2Gos - same with Trade Cards at our place.
We just type the card number into the till and it process the sale the same.

Incidentally - we never got emails or magazines through the post when we had our discount card (expired and not renewed as we have no stores anywhere near)

We lost our card and they wouldn't replace it, you don't need it though, as someone else said, just give them your postcode. You're paying £4 per year to shop in the store not for the card.

Ive never had emails or mags off them either - feel like Im missing out now!

We went to Pudsey one last weekend, spent quite a bit as I needed new waterproof and fleece and there's always bits n pieces you pick up isnt there!  Anyway, I also bought the picnic basket (lime green, £8.99 lol) and as I was paying at the checkout, using my card so turned slightly away,  the assistant packed all stuff into a  large bag. Very nice, thank you.  got home - and no picnic basket!!  Aaarghhh. Phoned the store next morning, yes it was at the checkout.  Can they post it?  No, they dont do that. But it was their fault?  No, its up to me to check through the  bag (ie unpack everything again ) before I leave the store.  So, now faced with a two hour round trip this weekend to collect it.  OH hasnt worked out yet that it will probably cost £8.99 in petrol to collect it, only a matter of time til he does

Think I'd just tell them to refund the £8.99 and buy elsewhere, rather than do a two hour round trip!

Hello there,

Sorry you have had trouble with the GO Discount Card. '2gocampin' were correct in what they said, we cannot replace discount cards because an individual is assigned to a card rather than the other way around.

The Discount Card is a topic of hot discussion at GO right now and as a team we are looking into ways of updating and improving the process for our members, this includes added benefits and ease of renewel.

However as has been said, you can give your postcode and name at the till point and receive your discount as normal.

For anyone who doesn't (and would like to) receive our emails you can sign up on our homepage and be udpated on our weekly in store deals for discount card holders as well as exclusive web only deals.

I can only apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused and i'll be sure to pass on all of your comments so they are heard.

If you have any other queries please feel free to email enquiries at gooutdoors.co.uk

What is it about Go Outdoors, why do people feel the need to complain about them on a weekly basis on here.

First off you dont have to pay the £4 for the discount card, you can shop there all you want but at the normal prices.

Secondly, how many of you have a loyalty card for a supermarket ? Ok you dont pay for it directly but I bet they make more than £4 out of each of you over the coarse of a year for being loyal and then they give you back a miniscule amount in relation to your total spend over that year.

Now if they offered the same as Go Outdoors and charged you £4 for their loyalty/discount card which gave you your weekly shopping at discounted prices AND offered to match any other supermarkets price AND gave you a further 10% off your shopping how many of you would not be willing to pay £4 for that ?

Its quiet simple ... If you dont like it dont go there and save your £4 for a rainy day.

Well said 2go. I've said before, if you don't like the business model, "Go Elsewhere".

And Brandon, good for you for coming on here. The more representation from makers and retailers the better, IMHO.

I dont normally have a problem with them, thats why I go there. They did a great deal on a tent for son at Christmas. I was just so disappointed about me little picnic basket!  We'll combine the trip with something else, like the big M&S up the road, or Ikea, a stones throw away, or the big garden centre at Tong ... (OH is gonna be so thrilled .....)

I do not like go outdoors, and absolutely hate the idea of a members card and would never pay £4.00 for one

I tend to use mail order mainly due to location and go are one of the worst online retailers I have ever come across, the number of times I have had an item cancelled from my order due to inaccurate stock levels and a part order sent making postage very expensive

Also like Val I donít like the store only offers that you have because our nearest store is 90 miles away, and the web only offers are never as good as the in store offers

Sorry go out doors until you get your act together I will continue to shop elsewhere

I agree with Force Ten, Go outdoors have lost us as potential customers  too,  because I don't want to buy a card for them to gather information about us and their higher prices to people without a card make them not very competitive.
