If you put something at room temperature into it and switched it on, it wouldnt cool it to a safe temperature fast enough - so it doesnt refrigerate,(it states this in the instructions too). Mine's has never frozen anything solid, just kept the stuff cold. Milk and things can get ice crystals in it though. You're correct too though at the ends of the season, its more likely to be a freezer than a coolbox.

Hi, nice post as i too am about to get a electric cool box. Prob from go outdoors but have seen one in Robert Dyes along with a good kitchen unit with a zip up bottom half and wind breaks on top for 35 big ones.

Yes, I've just dug out the instructions for our Rocktrail (think it's the Lidl one) which state it is an "Electric cooler suitable for use by private persons to keep pre-cooled food and beverages cool", which indeed it has done.
