Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

No, but I did notice that my brothers new Garmin satnav is sending him that way from Calais to Provence, where in the past his old Garmin would send him down the East route past Reims & Troyes etc.

We will be sticking to the East route from Dunkerque for our journey down to the Southern Ardeche this July, although I would be interested to find out, what this new route past Paris is like, as we intend going via Dieppe next year, for our journey down to the Tarn.

A86 on west side of Paris has a height restriction, so only for solo cars and/or low level trailers.

Just googled and there is a 2m height restriction although the A86 splits to let other traffic take the none height restricted tunnel, so dooable whatever unit you have.

I wonder how much the Toll is for the faster shorter height restricted tunnel section?.

Edit = Tarif link

Wow the tunnel section is a Duplex how cool is that, no chance of being dazzeled by on-comming traffic, apart from Brits that have got lost!.

They do seem to be experts when it comes to roads and tunnels.
Thanks to everyone for the previous advice.

Francais. The toll on that 10 km duplex tunnel on the A86 is 9 euros at peak times, with varying prices at other times going down to 2 euros at night. Details on www.autoroutes.fr

Hi bl03.

I new nothing of the A86 Tunnel etc, untill I read your post so big thanks for that.

I have avoided going anywhere near Paris when heading South, since around 1980!, having experienced massive delays in the past.

But the completion of the A86 has given me new hope, and could make for a fast route from Dieppe down to the South East of France.

I guess it's just a case of getting the timing right, but could be a contender for our 2013 hols.

Did contenplate using the A86 Tunnel section comming back this July, but we would be hitting the area around 4pm on a Friday afternoon, so we would no doubt get stuffed on the way in and way out.

So will stick to our tried and trusted Eastern route past Troyes and Reims, before our final overnight at Dunkerque on the way home, for this year.

Looking at the information from Francais it looks incredible but just wondered if it is less busy or will reduce the queues going round to the east?

I hope they've got special Pompiers' vehicles for this tunnel!

Hubby has been studying map (again) and is considering n184 & n186 any thoughts as we have never been around west side of Paris having only tried from east A10?
