We were late back from Brugge and missed the last train, so we drove round Calais for an overnight safe spot to park up, wild amp in prep for a very early start. We found heaven, follow signs for beach and just at port entrance at CAMPINGPARK you will find about 20 vans all doing the same very very safe and free.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

There's also a dedicated area at Cité Europe for Motorhomes. It.s opposite the enterence to Carrafour.

Bleriot Plage in San agtte is another popular stop over

Just to get rid of the "Blue Face" - 17

I drive into & out of Calais port several times a year so I know it fairly well & from the op's description I have no idea where he means. If he means the aire de campingcar at the end of the beach opposite the port, you are supposed to pay but presumably he got a freeby as he left early.
