The battery on my Sanaf tag has gone flat, does anybody know how to change it? or do I have to send it back to Sanaf?

I have had our tag over 10 years & have it on The French Sanaf Account.

Can anybody help?

John

You can either send it back and request a replacement or do what we did and the next time you are in France just call in at an office and get it changed on the spot.

More info from their web site

Map of offices

Only for Sanef France (Bip & Go) users though. Presumably Sanef UK have their own arrangements

Kens correct. Can request replacement on the UK website or just get another in France.

Just to be clear, I don't think you can get a replacement at an office in France if you've got one from Sanef UK (saneftolling.co.uk)

From Sanef UK website

3.11. How long will the battery in my tag last?

The battery in the tag is designed to last between 5 and 7 years depending on how often it is used. If your tag stops working, please contact us and we will send you a new one.

From the Bip & Go site:

What do I do if I'm not detected when in the lane (my pass is out of order, the barrier doesn't rise)?

All the electronic payment lanes have an intercom. Don't hesitate to call the toll assistance staff. They can either come to assist you or solve the problem remotely. If the barrier does not rise on entry to the motorway, there are some lanes where you can take a ticket and use it at a manual exit with your pass where the toll attendant can record your passage.

I do not see this as an issue, because if you are at the fast Tag lane and your TAG battery dies on you, then an operator will be at hand to do a manual input to your account.

OK you may have a que of irate motorists behind you, whilst things get sorted but sh*t happens.

If there is an office at the next service area, they will simply swop out your TAG and the new TAG will be assigned to your account.

We have the French issued BiP&Go (SANEF) TAG and there are folk on here who have the APPR French issued TAG and some have the Mont Black TAG, so the same would apply.

However for UK folk with the Saneftolling and Eurotunnel UK issued TAG's it could be a different story, so those folks need to check with the UK issuer as to what happens when you are in France, I can only guess that they would advise you to pay cash/card for toll in France, and they will send a new TAG to your UK address once you have returned the dead TAG to them, fat lot of use that is if you are just at the start of a 3 week or so holiday in France.

Just to be clear again.

You can only get a new tag from an office of the motorway company that you have an account with. I as a Sanef (Bip & Go) customer cannot nip into an APRR office or any other office apart from SANEF and ask for a swop.

Since I always pass through the SANEF area at the start of any holiday, any problem that has developed since my previous trip can easily be sorted. Precisely the reason why I bought the tag from SANEF rather than any other in the first place

Will be interesting to read what saneftollingUK folk are being told, as it is a subsidiary company of SANEF France.

I quoted what the saneftolling website says in my earlier post on this thread

Hi Ken, thanks I must have missed that.

So as it stands, if you are a saneftollingUK customer and your TAG goes down at the start or during your holiday, your stuffed.

Yet another reason why not to have a TAG from saneftollingUK.

I don't think there is a bigger drum banger out there for not using SANEF UK than you Andy, I'm surprised you have not wheeled out your favourite line about them being cowboys yet.

As for it not working you would take it off it's mount and go through a lane with an operator, hand it to them, they scan it and your away, no cash, no card just yor usual bill. No queue

Yep blueexpo97.
But according to the script that Ken posted, you have to return the TAG to Harrogate, no mention of doing what you suggest whilst in France with a saneftollingUK TAG that don't work.

That course of action would only appear possible with the Bip&Go (SANEF) TAG and other French issued TAG's.

Sorry wrong, that course of action worked for us the first year we used the TAG.

I think any tag - faulty or not - can be used manually at a manned booth but that kind of defeats the object of having one especially if you go at a busy time of year.
