On the way back through Burgundy yesterday, heading to Calais for a Sunday crossing,we were looking out for a vet for our dog's treatment and passed one in Autun and just on the off-chance stopped and asked if they could do it without an appointment(we were actually heading for Arnay le Duc where we know there is a vet we have used before).A very friendly and helpful receptionist said of course, and 10 minutes later we were back on the road, tablet given, and passport stamped. Here is the best bit, we were handed a bill by the vet, Sylvain Lenoble, for 10.70 euros - - I couldn't believe it either. Thought this might be useful for anyone needing a vet in that area on their way back.

badger54 - thanks for that information - I'll add it to the Google map of recommended Vets if you can give me the address -
Dandyman Bob - do you have the addresses of the Vets you used so that they can be added to the map?

Hi Everyone,
Here's a vet for anyone driving up from the Algarve within the pets passport window, or anything else.
Vet Gilao
Pct Eduardo Felix Franco, 3
Tavira
Tel: 281094023
If you know Tavira, top of main street, turn left, set back on right.

€20 consultation, €3 for the wormer, €4 each for two annual boosters. We also wanted an analysis on a lump on our Whippets side, he charged €12 and emailed the results. (that alone would have been £60-80 at home)
A brilliant young chap, (Andrea)speaks English (college in UK).
Came out to his surgery at midnight to repair our Whippet after she was savaged by two off lead Bulldogs on camp, stiches and aftercare, under €100
Will try to think of some others we have used.
Many thanks to Keith for creating the Google map. I have just found it and very grateful for the effort it takes to keep it up to date.
Mike

I've asked the Admin people of UKCS to include this map as a "sticky"
It's really good and one of the best things I've seen in a long time - many thanks

Maybe it because we have big dogs (boxers) and they need double dose but in the last 2 years have been charged 55 euros for the both of them. Have been thorough and we always find one in the place where we are staying and usually get the site owners to source one for use.

For those in the Vallon area this is the vets we have used for a number of years, in fact since it opened.

Cost this year was less than 12 Euros.

Open 9-12, 2-6

wonderful many thanks for this. we found our usual vet last year had retired and the new vet had put the prices up - by about 200%! seems to be great variation this year, depending on where you go.

Many thanks for all your recommended Vets.

They have been added to the Google Map - https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zTPBDq9Df4L4.kSm3eLuvVb2g

If you see any mistakes please let me know.

Any new recommendations are welcomed, even those to avoid, and when time allows they will be added to the map.

Keith
