can anybody please help im trying to get a towbar and electrics fitted to a jaguar s type.none of the major mobile services or well known names will do it!! something to do with the cars wiring ,but the specialist car specific relays have been around for years , and Ive seen a lots of s types fitted with towbars .surely any problem would have been shown up years ago ?. cant believe they were all fitted by a jaguar main dealers.

I guess the car will need a dedicated loom that will have to be configured on the main dealer's computer which is why nobody will do it. How much does the main dealer want? I can't see a problem provided the specific loom is used.

PF Jones advertise a fitting service.

Why not give them a call for a quote

Darklord, I notice you're 'Black Country' so maybe these folks might be able to help. I've used them a few times and found them to be excellent, might be worth a call for another opinion/quote etc.
Towequipe are in Nuneaton and while I'm not sure if they offer mobile installation, they're not a million miles away.

Hi,

Have you tried Fast-fit in Great bridge? They fitted mine and said that they regularly retro fit for Jaguar and all the big local dealers. Iv had two tow bars fitted by them and I would strong recommend.

There was no official wiring loom for mine either and all the mobile fellars wouldnt touch it, but Fast-fit did.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply's,
indispension wont fit s type jaguars, nor cdf,nor any of towequipe listed fitters.
the ony two i have found are kaytow in brierley hill and towcraft in blackheath. ive gone with kaytow ,the problem seems to be the unique wiring on the car.some fitter`s tried to tell me it messes up the ecu but i spoke to a technician at jaguar who said they just used the car specific relay without any problems.
i will keep you posted.

If the main dealer quotes a fixed price for towbar fitting of 1400, its a ripoff, the cost of parts can't be more than 250 & the fitting time more than 3 hrs. Maybe get the actual towbar fitted by a fitter & get a price from main dealer for fitting/configuring the electrics, perhaps he will be willing to do than for cost of parts+labour.
