We gave up C & CC a couple of years ago. We found them expensive then and didn't find they offer their "members" a decent deal on very much at all.

The club is all about commercial greed these days.

Electric should cost more in winter than summer.
The new sites book does not make sense with no prices.
I do qualify for ac but need to go mostly in high season. The site we went to this year will be 32 or 34 a night next year. I had intended going again but will not pay that much.
Also a continental rally we went on is now 5 a night more. We have booked but that will be the last one we go on.

What a shame and how unfair. The sites are nice but very basic. Site managers do half the amount of work now compared to when we first joined 20 plus years ago they worked then without assistants even . . So how are these increases justified.

Just e mailed c&c club telling them that I am also thinking of not renewing membership when mine runs out in feb 2014.I left once before when they started to put statics on some sites.I rejoined to get the age concession as I am now retired. This has worked well but as others have said now I do not know what I shall be paying.I have been looking on the uk campsite site listing in places that I like to go and a lot of them do special deals in low season and for older people.I will not be getting in touch via facebook

Just got back from the show. I ended up joining the caravan club. I was surprised to see the c & cc stand looking very busy all day which makes me wonder how many people on the stand were new to caravaning as I was last year....... They're going to be in for a shock I guess when they book their first trip with the club

Whilst I respect your view that you are not wanting to get involved in Facebook, currently it is the only public means of registering a protest that we know for sure the Club will be watching. I am sure they look in here from time to time but because their Facebook page is their own territory they are duty bound to keep an eye on it. So the more comments the more pressure.

Although I will not go on any face book to join up for. I have emailed the ccc and told them exactly what I thought of their big sites book which had no prices in it as usual to be able to work out in advance hoe much needed. Also about forcing people to get a computer for info (and there are some that have no intention of doing so or making expenses telephone calls to book the sites to find out then, the price, and get a shock. So I have done bit and have had a auto reply and will wait and see what they say back.

Good to hear you have taken some action. I have made a couple of posts on Facebook but they do tend to get a bit lost. Be interesting to hear what they say in their reply.

If you threw away the pricing guide which came with the book, go here scroll down the page until you get to Price Insert Card, click on the link below that to download, then print.

Also wondering whether to keep the C&CC membership going. Only used twice last year.

Not that we intend going on a club site ever again as we are NOT renewing our membership I did a pitch comparison check on a site we like to visit in Dorset, Mid Season June 2013 we had 15 nights grass with EHU, two people with age con. 16.35 per night is what we paid, next year Shoulder Season works out at From 19.45 To 21.77 per night, same pitch two people with age con. and EHU.

That's expensive! A lot of private sites, where you don't have to pay membership on top, cost less than that. :(

Yes Jax365 it`s certainly changed our minds about the C&CC after more than 20 years membership, I`ve been checking out other sites down south ready for next years main holiday have a couple in mind and both work out cheaper by a fair amount. Also saving our membership fee will go towards fuel cost of travelling the 370 miles [approx] each way.

We usually got away for 10 weeks first before kids hols. Then back again Sept - mid Oct =6 weeks.

To be able to do that lot we do not go anywhere for 8 months of the year. We save it all for this so we can get out & away from where we live and go for freedom. That has now been cut in half both times. I know no this is more than most but they probably go to the cinema and other things, we do not.

So we are looking for some CS sites maybe to stretch it all out again. Not keen on the commercial sites as too big for us. But we do travel top to bottom, side to side of the bigger island if possible. Anyone know of any please let us know, if possible disabled toilet/shower as needs are such.

Starting to bed down for winter already.

But they don't charge for electricity its free, you pay for the provision of the service. If they charged they would have to put in meters as they are not allowed to make a profit on charges.

We have just joined the C &CC at the show.As OH is retiring next year and we will be going away more we thought we would join both clubs. We are already members of the CC.Surprised to see the price hike and very disappointed. At least we won't be out of pocket fortunately in joining at the show as we only paid 41 and we were given two free site vouchers. That's probably why it appeared busy. You can't lose really.

PS In readiness for retirement and less money in our pockets we tried a couple of CC certified locations this year, They were lovely. One near Tenby had a lovely shower block and the pitches were spacious and the site was very pleasant. Preferred it to many of the club sites and it was only 13 per night including electric. We will definitely be trying more.

It will be interesting to see if the smaller independent sites raise their charges to maintain the existing price differential. The usual business practice, whatever the product or service, seems to be to price according to what the market will stand and if the large clubs are 30+ each then I can't see the small sites being happy to miss an opportunity to make a bit more out of us.
I am in no way saying that we don't get our moneys worth from the majority of sites, certainly the ones I have used have all been more than satisfactory, I'm only suggesting that this may be the start of a more widespread trend.
It will certainly make us more aware of the likely charges when we are booking our stay and take advantage of any offers or bargains. I know that I pay more attention to fuel prices than I ever did before, I even bought a new tow car this month as the Navara was just getting beyond a joke if we wanted to travel any distance. Now the site charges will have to be more closely looked at as well.
Maybe worried about nothing at all but time will tell.
