posh gits.

i have an F/C with no loo, so at night we have a thetford thingy in the corner of the awning with strict rules no poo.

until i need one.

then its ok, as i empty it.

but i swear its not all mine........

treacherous women saying they are only going for a wee.....

but if you think thats bad....

wait till you have to wee in a bottle and poo in your hand wrapped in clingfilm, wrap it up and put it in your bergan and take it back to base with you so noone knows you were there............

We use the van as if we were at home, shower gets used and the loo does for ones and twos. We are ex campers though, so perhaps it comes from that, don't see the point in trudging out to the park facilities when I can powder my nose in my own comfy bathroom in privacy 👍 Although have to admit, I do send hubby the site facilities sometimes, depending on what he's been eating

Not using you're vans facilities takes me back, to when I was a young girl and when my mum got new sofa, she kept the plastic wrapper on, so not to spoil it haha! Life's too short to be so precious, you've bought it to enjoy so use it do just that !

My mum used to put newspaper on the settee when dad came home in his work clothes! the newsprint probably made it dirtier than dad ever did. She also chided me for not doing the same in my own house (but then, she chided a lot).

Different times though. Old carpet put down on top of new carpet. Fitted covers for armchairs & car seats. Bikes & clothes repaired & passed down to younger brothers/sisters. Stuff was preserved & looked after because there was less money to buy new stuff.

For us baby boomers we have money to spend on new stuff so we chuck stuff away when it is a bit worn. Younger generations are not so lucky so they perhaps will have to become as thrifty as our 1950s parents were?

We use both toilet and shower - we use many CLs in this country. Why would we 'share' a toilet with countless others when we have our own in the van.

People sometimes forget that not all baby-boomers are well off. A lifetime of relatively low-paid jobs for some, including me. I have always repaired stuff wherever possible, and only ever throw anything away when it is no longer useable or repairable. Hence I can fix most things, and I'm sure my kids have picked that up from me.

Your obviously not drinking enough wine then Kelper.

Never been accused of that before!

Luckily ... lots of wine produces plenty of pee ...

Re showers ... most campsite showers are a hell of a lot better than our caravan one ... so makes perfect sense to use them.

One thing I noticed was that in the act of carting the cassette to the emptying point, some paper and solids get deposited in the mechanism at the top, however much you rinse out. Once emptied these are left in air rather than blue, and can soon smell when its warm. So now, once its dosed, I swill this round every internal surface of the cassette.

I normally only use my toilet for widdle (a night on the beer can produce quite a lot of widdle). If I needed a poo and it was chucking it down outside then the poo would end up in the cassette.
I know all about festival etc "chemi kharzies", having to stand and hover above the mountain

When we first started, I instituted a no solids rule, if we were on a site with facilities. I soon learnt every time I emptied the cassette someone had sneaked in some "Solids" so in the end I decided that if you can't beat them join them. Fortunately my solids smell of Chanel perfume.

Only widdle.
The shower makes a good bit of storage space.

Exactly!

Its a wc if it needs using its used!
Normally on sites with facilities we use for wee unless essential.
It has to be emptied anyway!
We do use minimum facility sites so shower gets use too.
In these situations I tend to empty every other day along with waste water and aquaroll top up.
Murphys law says the red light comes on in night when SWMBO uses it otherwise!
