Wanted Ads Scams
Please be aware that sadly, on the internet, like the rest of life, there can be people who although they may appear perfectly nice and reasonable, are actually out to make money from you if they can.
It's rare, but you should be aware it can happen.
If you are contacted by someone in relation to your wanted ad, please be very cautious about any offer they may make you. You may be asked to make a payment direct to a bank or building society account, with the promise that they will post the item you are after. We highly recommend you don't do this, unless you actually know the person. All transactions are far less likely to be dodgy if you can examine the items first, so always insist on seeing the goods prior to making any payment.
What to do if you have been scammed
Unfortunately, we cannot intercede on your behalf as the transaction is between the seller (scammer) and the buyer (you).
However, if this does happen to you, please contact your local police and Trading Standards Officer who may be able to assist.
