  Ingleton Overground Underground Festival 2013 25/05/2013 to 31/05/2013  
The Overground Underground Festival offers an unexpected take on the hills and dales around Ingleborough, Yorkshire Dales. There is lots to try and experience for all ages. Some events are ticketed, so best to check the website in advance and find out what appeals to you.

  Yorkshire Dales Gaping Gill Winch Meet 2013 25/05/2013 to 31/05/2013  
Situated on the SW slopes of Ingleborough at an altitude of 1300ft (400m) above sea level, Fell Beck ends its meandering course abruptly, & plunges 330ft(100m) down into the limestone plateau creating Britain’s highest unbroken waterfall. It lands on the floor of Gaping Gill, the largest cavern in Britain.

The Bradford Pothole Club has held a Winch Meet here for over 50 years, allowing members of the public and non-cavers the chance to visit this truly awe-inspiring underground scene.

  Winterton Fake Festival 2013 25/05/2013 to 25/05/2013  
Fake Festivals present the Winterton Fake Festival featuring Tribute Bands to The Prodigy, Kasabian, The Stone Roses plus local support bands. All held inside the Fake Festivals marquee with a licensed bar and fenced food and entertainment garden area.

The Festival takes place at Winterton Showground, North Lincolnshire. The events runs from 12pm-11pm with live music played all day from 1pm.

  Swaledale Festival 2013 25/05/2013 to 08/06/2013  
With top-class musicians from around the world, from solo violinists to jazz guitarists, folk groups to brass bands, there is music for every taste. Poetry, drama and art exhibitions can be found in chapels, churches, village halls, pubs, castles and barns, and guided walks weave through the stunning Yorkshire Dales. What a wonderful way to spend time in God’s Own County.

This festival takes place in various village venues around Swaledale, Wensleydale and Arkengarthdale.

  Whitby Fossil Hunting Trips 26/05/2013 to 27/05/2013  
The trips are run by Brian Blessed, a qualified palaeontologist (fossil hunter). Taking around 3 hours, covering 3 miles. Leaving from the fossil shop Natural Wonders.

Taking route up the coastal path, via Whitbys ruined abbey, down the next bay south (Saltwick Bay). Then down to the beach where a brief talk is given about fossil hunting. Then the hunt begins for fossils heading back along the foreshore. All fossils found can be taken home, booking is required!

  Giant Bradley Day Market Weighton 2013 26/05/2013 to 26/05/2013  
An annual festival is organised in memory of William Bradley (1787 –1820) in his hometown of Market Weighton. Known more commonly as Giant Bradley or the Yorkshire Giant, is the tallest recorded British man that ever lived, measuring 7 feet 9 inches

The event has been held annually in May since 1996 and is attended by hundreds of people in the town. It is a family-oriented event with games, amusement rides, stalls, and other attractions, including the famous Weighton Lash.

  Battle of Britain exhibition - Duxford 27/05/2013 to 02/06/2013  
We’re celebrating the opening of our new exhibition, Historic Duxford, with a look at what life was like for people living and working at RAF Duxford.

Find out what job you would have been given in the Royal Air Force. Learn how to salute, and how to recognise different badges of rank, so that you knew who to salute and when.

Dress up in mini-wartime uniforms and meet our costumed character who will tell you all about life in the RAF at Duxford. Then have a go at fun craft activities.

  National Camping and Caravanning Week 27/05/2013 to 02/06/2013  
National Camping and Caravanning Week (NCCW) is now into its 13th year and continues to celebrate the nation’s love for camping, caravanning and the great outdoors.
To mark the occasion, The Camping and Caravanning Club is inviting you to visit one of its
UK Club Sites or Camping in the Forest Sites to enjoy some of the fantastic experiences available when camping in the great outdoors!

A series of on-site events will take place during NCCW - including a hub event at the Club’s
Hertford Site on Friday, May 31.

The event at Hertford will be a camping extravaganza with chances to ‘Eat Local’, rub shoulders with celebrity botanist, David Bellamy, view a new Caravan prototype, participate in family activities plus much more.

  RSPB Bempton Cliffs Puffin Patrol 28/05/2013 to 28/05/2013  
Visitors young & old to RSPB Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire, often have just one request... to see the puffins. A Puffin Patrol is a great way of discovering the best places to find the cliffs’ cheekiest residents.

Youngsters can get kitted-out with an Explorer Backpack & head out over the reserve with an RSPB patrol guide leading the way, keeping a sharp look-out for puffins. For adults there is a chance to get some answers to any puffin questions, as well as some stunning photographs.
