Vacancy: Warden Receptionists (Couple) - Applications close 14/09/2014
Employer's Name: The Old Oaks Touring Park (adults Only)
We're a 5 star 'just for adults' caravan touring park set in the beautiful Somerset countryside and are looking for that very special 3rd couple to join our team of warden receptionists.
The perfect candidates will BOTH be fit, enthusiastic TEAM players with outstanding customer service and proven IT skills (both candidates)including outlook, word and excel (DP a distinct advantage). They'll need a love of the outdoors (come winter, summer, rain or shine) and a burning desire to provide our guests with the best possible holiday experience they can.
It's important to note that we're looking for a couple who will commit to at least 2 years. Also, as a family run park, the right candidates will be thinking about a 'lifestyle change', rather than a career progression opportunity.
Previous experience in this type of work is not strictly necessary, but advantageous and a knowledge and experience of camping and caravanning is a massive bonus.
Old Oaks wardens are no ordinary wardens - they're 'super wardens'! They will both work primarily in reception, taking bookings, using our computerised booking system, processing payments, providing superb local knowledge, serving in the shop and always have a 'can do' attitude with nothing being too much trouble for the guests. Please also note that whilst extensive full cleans of the toilet and showers blocks are not part of the daily duty, regular checks & emergency 'mop ups' are required, as is a willingness to step up and fill in for others when needed.
The position on offer will be from mid Feb to mid Nov 2015 with the opportunity for a permanent seasonal position for the right couple. Interviews will take place during Sept this year and ideally training will be during Oct or Nov. To be discussed.
Weekly hours differ depending on the time of year but will always be somewhere between 25 and 34 each. Above all, our wardens must be 100% FLEXIBLE in terms of hours and days worked. This is extremely important due to the nature of the business.
In the first year, we pay 20p over the minimum hourly wage with small increases when you stay for 2, 3, 4 and 5 years. Wardens get a fully serviced pitch with electric, wifi and laundry but will, of course, need to provide their own well-maintained caravan or motorhome.
As an adult only park and member of Tranquil Touring Parks this means that no-one under the age of 18 is permitted on the park - this includes children or grandchildren of wardens. Applicants will need to consider how this will affect their individual circumstances.
This line of work is a 'lifestyle change' which involves not only living in a confined space 24/7 for 9 months of the year with your partner, but also working together. Please be realistic about whether this suits you both.
As a five star park, our guests expect the highest possible levels of service and cleanliness and so our wardens are expected to be consistently vigilant about the park and facilities; acting on their own initiative to put right any problems without having to be asked.
Good physical fitness levels are ESSENTIAL, as our guests are all shown to their pitches by the warden on their push bike. On busy arrival days, this can be fairly intense, so please be realistic about whether this suits you, or alternatively be prepared to 'get on your bike' and get stuck in! Cleaning / checking of the facilities blocks are also an important part of the wardens duties. Again high standards and efficiency are required.
Be under no illusions - whilst a warden/receptionist position at The Old Oaks can be very rewarding and enjoyable, it's certainly 'no walk in the park'. We are a very busy park for a large part of the season. During busy times, which are often, the job can be extremely demanding so the successful applicants will need to be able to prove that they can cope under pressure and deal with difficult situations.
That said, we are privileged to have one of the best parks in the UK, set in the most beautiful surroundings and with so much to see and do right on the doorstep, for the right couple, working at our park could be everything you ever dreamed of!
Please apply in the first instance to Tara White firstname.lastname@example.org with letters of introduction and CVs.
Please don't phone us at this stage.
Please note that whilst we are a dog friendly campsite, we are unable to accept applicants with dogs as we feel it is unfair to leave pets alone during shifts.
All applications will be considered and replied to by the end of Sept. Interviews will take place during Sept & October.
Closing date for applications is 14th Sept 2014.
