This is a Caravan and Motorhome Club Certificated Location, which accepts just five caravans or motorhomes (no tents) and is for Club Members only.
Our CL is basic but tranquil set in a quiet 1.5 acre site, which is an old paddock with plenty of space. The field is fairly level but has some humps which are the remains of old ridge and furrow. There is a small brook which runs through adjacent fields. The site has an agricultural feel as opposed to being a neatly manicured club site. It is surrounded by farm land which will have tractors working on them at certain times of the year. There is an unfenced irrigation reservoir adjacent which you may wander around or fish, although it is not commercially stocked. It is very peaceful and the reservoir attracts many species of bird and is often almost noisy with birdsong, there are horses grazing nearby.
There is a good footpath to the side of the site, but this involves going over 2 stiles. If you prefer, the 3 mile long gated road has very little traffic and is very pleasant to walk or cycle down. It goes from Haunton to Wigginton, and at the end of the walk in Wigginton there is the Crown pub which offers refreshments.
Reasonably priced with no irritating add ons, offering a quiet get away, well behaved dogs are also welcome.
The site is easily accessible and is at the Haunton end of a three mile long private road. There are plenty of good pubs locally including the White Lion at Harlaston, the Green Man at Clifton Campville and the Colville Arms at Lullington. There is also an Indian restaurant and takeaway in No Mans Heath.
Some of the electric points have their own tap, and there is also an elsun point.
Cleat Hill Farm CL is located 5 miles N.N.W of the historic market town of Tamworth. Market days are Tuesday and Saturday.
The site is set in a beautiful area with attractive villages all around, and there is easy access to many national forest facilities.
The National Forest is one of the country's boldest environmental projects. It has been transformed through the planting of millions of trees and the creation of many other valuable habitats. It boasts many new attractions and forest-based activities.
Tamworth, once capital of ancient Mercia, is renowned for its floral displays. Dominated by splendid Motte & Bailey 12th C castle. There is plenty to do in Tamworth including Drayton Manor Park, the Snowdome and Strykers bowling. Kingsbury Water Park Nature Reserve and Twycross Zoo are also nearby.
We are also very close to the National Memorial Arboretum the UKs Centre of Remembrance, its free and open every day.
Calke Abbey, which is a National Trust property, is about half an hours drive away but makes a good day out.
Approach from Junction 11 M42 or Alrewas exit off the A38.
In Haunton Syerscote Lane is off the main street and Cleat Hill Farm is a few hundred yards on the left.
