Moss Side Farm is a Traditional Lakeland Hill Farm having cattle, sheep, hens, ducks and ponies.
Situated in the southern fells of the Lake district near to the Mountains, Fells, Lakes and the Irish Sea. Only a stones throw from the historic village of Broughton in Furness, 15 min from Coniston Lake.
The campsite is small and friendly having fantastic, panoramic views over the river and fells beyond. The only noise is that of the animals, birds, breeze in the trees, the water fall and stream, Strictly no radios or music allowed. No young groups except DOE.
There are three separate fields for you to choose from, all with spectacular views.
Campfires are welcome, we offer fire pits for you to use, wood and fire lighters can be bought from the farm.
Toilets, showers and washing up room with fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster, re cycling bins and fresh water points.
The village of Broughton in Furness is a very pleasant walk down a footpath from the farm, or 7 mins in the car. The village is a typical historical Lakeland village, very pretty, having tree lined village square with Obelisk & ancient Stoks to withstrain local ruffians! Family run shops, Butchers, Bakers, Green Grocers, Post Office, gift shop and petrol station, also 3 Pubs offering great food and drinks and two cafes.
This is a family run working farm and campsite, we are always milling around doing something so always on hand to offer help and advise ie local walks, good places to visit, where to shop and eat. Also if you forget to pack something essential to your trip ie your tent, we have spares.......no, honestly, this has happened more than once.
Easy to find being just a 40 minute drive from junction 36 on the M6. Just pop LA20 6DJ into your sat nav and it will bring you right to our door.
A fantastic area for walkers, mountain bikers, lots of space for children to explore or simply put your feet up, relax and enjoy the view.
QUIRKY CAMPING IN RAILWAY TRUCKS. Totally refurbished having a double bed and bunk (sleeps 4), woodburner, table chairs etc (see photos). The campsite is situated on the old Foxfield to Coniston railway line so we thought it would be novel to turn these fantasitc old wagons into cosy, comfortable glamping huts! Warm and cosy, a little less hassle than bringing your own tent etc. Bring everything for a usual camping trip except beds and tents.
Dogs are welcome on site but must be kept on a restraint at all times due to ducks and hens, sheep and lambs etc.
Coniston Lake, Muncaster Castle, Windermere Steam Boats, Haverthwaite Steam trains, Old Hall Histric working farm, Black Combe, Coniston Old man, South Lakes Zoo, Ravenglass Little Ratty miniature steam trains, Muirthwaite Green Pony trekking, Silecroft Beach, Furness Abbey. Grizedale forest. Fantastic walks and cycling in this area. Many National Trust historic houses and gardens, castles, Roman Forts, stone circles, etc etc.
We have a great Information Centre in the village, the ladies in there are a mine of local information so if you are looking for something of particular interest, contact them they are sure to be of assistance.
