We now have 6 new hardstanding pitches each with 6 metres of grass between them for awnings. Gents' facilities have been upgraded for 2015 to include sheltered exterior basins, mirrors and shaving points! Martleaves Farm on the Jurassic Coast is set in 34 acres of glorious countryside, a site of special scientific interest and a haven for nature lovers & bird watchers. Nestling on the coastline adjacent to the famous Chesil Beach we have a footpath leading down to the sea and the coastal path just 300 metres away. We are a working farm with horses (and manure!) Our cost for a tent & 1-2 people is £15 a night (£12 1st October to end March) & £5 a night for each additional camper 12 yrs and over. Camper vans & caravans with ehu cost £23 a night (£18 1st Oct to end March). Dogs are £1 a night and should be on leads around the farm. Payment in full is required on booking electric hook up pitches. We're a licenced site for 20 vans, & WiFi is provided by Camping Connect. We have Ladies & Men's shower and toilet blocks, a laundry room with sink, washing machine, tumble dryer & fridge/freezer, and power points. We're able to accommodate up to 25 guests in our AA 4* Gold rated Self Catering (with disabled access) and B&B rooms. We have alpacas, ducks, chicken, pigs, horses & Shetland ponies. Our campers can now enjoy breakfast baps from the farmhouse between 9am and 10am. We use only the best dry cured bacon from a Dorset butchery, freshly laid eggs and fresh baps with butter and sea salt crystals. Absolutely amazing. For campers to BBQ we've sourced Jumbo Boerewors and Beef Bobotie sausages (South African recipes made in Dorset), and Pork, Sage & Shallot and Pork & Mustard sausages also made at the butchery. We're selling our own Martleaves lamb sausages including Moroccan Merguez skewers and Lamb, Rosemary & Garlic sausages. There are fire pits for communal use in the fields, also portable fire pits for hire and firewood is available at the barn for £5.
Chesil Beach is world famous, particularly for fishing. Chesil Bank and the Fleet Lagoon provide Britain with one of its most remarkable lengths of coastline and a rich diversity of wildlife.
The Fleet Observer takes guests on an hour long trip around the lower reaches of the Fleet Lagoon and Portland Harbour.
We have a secluded beach at the bottom of our land and a sandy cove just five minutes away which never becomes crowded even in peak season. The Fleet is a saltwater estuary which runs 10 miles along to Abbotsbury and is very safe for swimming.
On our farm we have pet pigs George & Mildred (a Vietnamese Pot Bellied pig from the Animal Sanctuary and a Kune Kune) rare breed chicken, beautiful bantams, ducks, sheep, miniature Shetland ponies, and 3 alpacas, Kim, Barney and Angus.
Postcode: DT4 9NR (The scenic route is via Westhill Road but it's unsuitable for large vans.)
Take the signs from Weymouth towards Portland. Then take Boot Hill, Rodwell Road, Buxton Road, Portland Road, turn right at the traffic lights into Langton Avenue, Marlborough Avenue, left into South Road. Take the Swallows Rest B&B entrance, drive straight ahead, between the riding school and the mobile home along the new roadway. (There is a Swallows Rest sign on Portland Road which should be passed by as that way in is too narrow for vans.)
Please drive very slowly as we have horses and dogs on the farmyard.
