Abbotstone Wood is the perfect place to see out the summer with your friends and family. There are no fixed pitches in either the woods or the fields, so fantastic for letting the children hang out together and run wild in the woods, while you sit around and relax with your friends.
We have nine flushing toilets and 7 hot showers in the reception area. Plus we have composting toilets and a woodland shower spread around the place. So you can look forward to loads of space with hot showers and clean toilets.
David and Rosie are on site to look after you and provide you with all the information you need.
The location and surroundings make this a very special site, ideally suited to large family groups and those that want to hideaway in the woods. Nowhere to get completely lost, but plenty of space to hide!
Abbotstone Wood is a combination of wide open spaces and shady glades deep in the ancient woods.
You approach through the woods, before coming into an open meadow. This offers camping close to the facilities, and is surrounded by trees. Past the reception area it opens out to a large rolling meadow with fantastic views and a wild flower meadow to enhance the charm.
Then there are the woodland pitches. Some great open glades or those mysterious but delightful little spaces between the trees.
Sensible camp fires are encouraged, as are sensible dogs. Likewise, we have wood for your fires and our lovely campfire grills plus the essentials from Campstores.
We will be running Bushcraft sessions every Saturday afternoon.
Abbotstone Wood Camping is just a couple of miles from New Alresford, which is actually quite old, and a charming little town with everything you might need. It has a Co op, a Tescos, as well as cafes, pubs, chemists and a good butcher, it even has its own brewery. The Itchen Valley Brewery, is open to visitors and of course you can buy some of their fine ales.
The town is right in the heart of the Hampshire watercress country, and is the southern terminal for the Watercress Line Heritage railway, so you can take a steam train to Alton if you like.
If you are coming from the North the entrance to Abbotsone Wood Camping is about ¾ mile south of the village of Swarreton on the B3046. It is signed and will be on the right at the top of the hill.
If you are coming from the South (From Alresford) the entrance is about ¾ mile after The Abbotstone Down ancient site car park. on the B3046 It is signed and on the left, just before you go down the hill.
Abbotstone Wood Camping has no direct post code, how off grid is that?
This postcode SO9 etc will get you within a mile of the entrance on the B3046.
It is NOT a post code for the site which is about ¾ mile south on the B3046.
